I tried to keep in mind at the beginning of this season that all the Russian posters kept telling us he's a slow starter, who becomes better as the season goes on. Starting to realize that can mean a lot more offense over an 82 game season than a 60 game season. The kid's been crazy. I'm in hockey love.

There was reason to be concerned about the deal he got based on a small sample size, but these days I’m wondering if we should’ve just smacked him with the Panarin deal while we still could.

I wonder where he fits into the Hart race right now.

100+ point pace on a team that is 7th in points percentage right now.

2nd and 3rd place on his own team are his line mates, one of which he is pretty obviously propping up.

43% more points than the closest non line mate.

Yeah I agree, he's definitely propping Zuccarello up

Not even being sarcastic, but I don’t think Hartman has been propped up by Kap. He’s definitely been beneficial to keeping up his pace, but Hartman was on fire before he even made his way onto Kap’s line. Think he’s responsible for at least 6-8 of our points just due to his tying and GWG that he scored late in the 3rd periods (while playing in a bottom 6 role).

I wasn't being sarcastic. Zuccarello is clearly being propped up by Kaprizov.

I do think Zucc has a skill set that meshes well with Kap, but I definitely agree that Kap is pulling most of the weight between those two. Hopefully there’s a team out there that overpays in a trade for a “PPG” winger this offseason.

I hear tell Edmonton needs someone who can score not named McDavid or Draisaitl

I'm extremely appreciative of what Hartman has been and done this year, but he's unquestionably the 3rd best player on that line. I'm just saying that the fact that he's as close as he is to Kaprizov in points, is mainly due to Kaprizov himself. It's not really a knock on Hartman; it would be the case for any center that was plugged into that line (that isn't on Kaprizov's level themselves).

Ah, the Victor Rask paradox. 23 points in 54 games on that line last season says maybe some of Hartman's production is actually Hartman's fault.

Kind of wanna do the Kaprizov vs Breadman poll again see if it's any different it given Kaprizov has made the PPG+ jump...

Kaprizov - Zuccarello reminds me of Gaborik - Demitra, 2 immensely talented guys that mesh well together. It's been fun to watch.

I think Hartman has done more than hold his own as well.

Fun fact of the day - even strength points 2012-22 per NHL

1. Ovechkin: 41 in 40 games
2. Meier: 38 in 45 games
3. Huberdeau: 36 in 39 games
tie. Kaprizov: 36 in 34 games.

Only 3 players in the top 20 scorers have more even strength points than games played: Ovechkin. Kaprizov, McKinnon.

I continue to be asking the question:

If this team is 3rd in the league in goals, and if Kap-Hart-Zucc seems to be more or less unstoppable.....why is anyone asking about an upgrade at center? I know that no one is happy with the ? in a Boldy-?-Fiala line, so there is that....but still, the offense on this team is not something to cry about.

Goals against, however, is a big problem. If that doesn't settle down when Brodin and Spurge are back then something needs to be done there.
