Someone had to go; however, I am surprised that Highmore is staying.
It's clear that Ostapchuk is not ready for NHL level hockey at this time and needs more time to develop in the AHL.
I doubt Reinhardt and Highmore are going to become NHL level talent.
He seems to have disappeared the past month or so. Prior to that at least he would show some defensive awareness.Have to say I'm pretty disappointed that Ostapchuk was up with the big club for over half a season and I don't think I saw him possess the puck for longer than a couple seconds in any game.
Would have liked to see any kind of flash of skill or offensive upside, but there was absolutely nothing shown after 43 games.
He'll play in this league due to his tools and defensive game, but I was definitely hoping he'd have more offense to his game. Looking like a Kastelic replacement at this point.
