Best I'd offer is Laughton. Yeah, he's older but he's a much better all around player. He could help the young guys in Montreal. Or maybe Cates if they'd want a younger Laughton.

I don't understand why he is playing to poorly....he was a great pick up for the Canadians but him and Newhook have just been awful......I would hold onto him if I were the Habs and hope he comes back to decent play because you won't get much for him now.

Dach is only 24 in 2025, but coming off an injury and isn't playing well. When Mon got him, he was 5 years from UFA. Sending him out, another team has this season plus 2 more before UFA. And now have another injury. Not getting what MON gave up for him.

Given their need at C and size, they have no choice but to try to make it work with him, at least for this season.

I still have hope for him. I can't see any physical reason why he can't bring back his game so it's between his ears.

Playing with Laine should help revive him otherwise we lose two players.

He's simply not playing like his cocky self that we all admired.

Give him a bit more time...

The Habs should shut him down for a month so he can get whatever combination of rest and training that he needs, and then bring him back on an AHL conditioning stint (which doesn't require waivers) so he can build up some confidence.

The player is currently bad but so is the team so it doesn't make sense to sell him now. And just playing him doesn't seem to be going anywhere. So I would go for a rest and conditioning stint route.

Zegras is much better than dach, wouldn’t even consider it

Zegras has done everything the team asked from him. He’s adjusted his game to be solid in all 3 zones, will battle in the corners and dzone…. Had cut down on his immaturity issues.

He’s shown he can consistently score at the nhl lvl, now he’s showing he can develop into more of a 2way player(still has his flaws but that’s why I used develop). His points are a bit down, but so are everyone’s in Anaheim.

Nobody in Anaheim wants to move Z, and we sure as hell don’t want Kirby dach or newhook, or any other garbage Montreal fans might try to throw our way.

Zegras has 10 points in 23 games with a minus 6. On pace for 32 points making almost 6 million a year. How do you think he is playing well in all three zones.

Unfortunately, a perfect example of a kid who was ruined by the team who drafted him, and a second team who double downed on his potential. All while they forgot to actually develop him.

He still has some time though. If he can end up committing himself to being more like Rasmussen in Detroit, then there’s a chance those hands make a comeback between 26-30, and he still has some 50+ point seasons.

He’s gonna have to make that commitment to playing more of a defensive minded role, using his size to create space for his line mates, etc. All while winning battles.

The problem is, he hasn’t developed that part of his game. So he’s a couple of years behind that 8 ball now.

So value wise, he’s really not worth much pushing 24 already. Chicago was smart getting out from under him. Not sure Montreal has any leverage here at all. Not making over $3 million. Wouldn’t be surprised if they buy him out come June. He’ll sign somewhere where they’ll try getting him to be like I explained above. Get him to be able to play on any line and contribute, even if he’s not contributing on the scoresheet. They get him to that point, like I said, with those hands, you never know.

They’d be lucky to get a 3rd right now. It’s one thing to pay a 3rd liner who’s really good at what he does, over $3 million. To pay him over $3 million to be a placeholder? Not many teams are gonna be interested.

You can try tuning in for a game, production isn’t quite as good as we’d want… but he’s still our most dangerous forward on a night to high basis. The points will come

And also question why Anaheim fans arnt trying to pawn him off? You never see duck fans wanting to trade zegras.

Even in a situation where he improves, which I think is very possible, he’s still made of glass. His trade value will always be limited for that reason alone.

I don't think it's a good idea to trade Dach right now. Is value is pretty low and come back from a big injury last year. Habs doesn't have a cap issue right now.

I would keep him and hope he finds is game.

Strongly agree with this. Guys coming back from major knee surgery typically take time. With that said - the clock is definitely ticking on KD.
