$3.3mil cap hit for:

1 goal in 24 games (he's nearly tied for team lead in PP TOI)
7 assists in 24 games (more than half from the powerplay)
-20 rating
41% on the faceoff dot

Yeah, this guy is the definition of "negative value". True worth = most likely a 3rd/4th round pick + Habs have to retain salary.

He’s coming off injury, his value is at its low, and you have no playoff run for which you need to clear cap space. Not seeing how it makes sense.

Trading him or waiving him is not ideal but you have to weigh that against your culture.

His compete level is so bad, his body language is so bad. I would assume this is something the Habs want to eradicate and not have it rub off on the rest of the group.

There was a play in the Ranger game where he could have arrived first to a puck in the o-zone but he chose to allow the Ranger D in first and then he kind of cozied up beside him rather than aggressively trying to win the board battle. Very much a beer league move and not indicative of someone trying to recapture form in the world's best league.

He is Chad Kilger 2.0 from looks of it

Early drafted Big C (Kilger went 4th overall in his draft)

But he is a big man who plays soft and doesn't appear capable of being an NHL C. Dach is showing little on wing either and his effort sticks out as piss poor often enough that it is noticeable

Unlike Kilger though there isn't really anything Dach does well. Kilger was ok defensively and could PK. Dach is neither ok defensively nor does he PK

He is nearing a point in which Habs may have to consider moving on from him and Dach will be on 3rd organization. A person can only live so long off of draft position they were taken before teams start to wonder if this is what the player will always be

We shall see if Dach turns things around or if his time in Montreal like Chicago is over earlier than expected

While he's certainly not worth the 13th OA & 66th OA picks that the Habs paid for him (Hawks appear to have made out like bandits in that trade value wise on paper, not sure what they did with the picks since then), I wouldn't call him worthless yet, but his value is at an all time low at this point.

Hawks selected C Frank Nazar (13th overall) and LW Gavin Hayes (66th overall)

Nazar is the Hawks top F prospect at this point and doing great in 1st year as pro in Rockford at age 20 (17 GP with 10 goals + 11 assists) while Hayes is struggling in his first year as pro in Rockford at age 20 (18 GP with 2 goals + 2 assists)

If the Flames could swap him for Pelletier or something I'd go for it lol

This feels like a very short-sighted approach. Why on earth would the Habs sell low on him now?

He's coming off a devastating knee injury last year, and clearly isn't the player he was prior (again yet). I get he's been disappointing, but why ship him off now for underwhelming return, instead of holding on to him and giving him the time he needs to turn it around.

He's not hurting their cap, and it's not like a healthy, firing-on-all-cylinders Kirby Dach makes Montreal a contender by himself, anyway...

I'm here on the behalf of Chicago - we'll take Kirby back in exchange for Andreas Anthanasiou and that is our final offer.

Wondering what team would offer a 1st for him?
Habs could use this opportunity to clear unwanted cap space and look for a 2C in the offseason.
Not looking for salary past this year and this would need to be a pure trade for picks?

Does any team want this guy?
Shits all over him on the Habs board saying he sucks then proceeds to ask for a first rounder....can't make this shit up :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

He looked good the first season in MTL. After his 2 games last year before the injury, MTL fans were certain he was going to be a near ppg center. I think maybe the fans are victims of overreavting and changing the player’s projection too much, in both directions at different times.

Nahh Habs will keep him , he's cheap but he needs to know his role witch is center on a 3rd line at 4mil max , he's better then Dvorak still so he is a ok 3rd center.

I would see him playing with
Gally-Dach-Anderson on a 3rd
