Looks like there are rare cases of a good wrist surgery. Souray may be a rare exception. Same with knee, foot and hip.

I don't know any hip success stories. It seems like those guys are never the same in hockey circles. They might keep playing, but they aren't the same..... See Jamie Benn, who people often wonder why his game dropped so much.

There was another player who had a similar wrist procedure to that of souray, and came back well from it. I think it was pronger but not 100% sure.

Of course, not all wrist injuries are the same, and what Drouin has could be completely different than souray and pronger. I think they actually installed a metal plate in souray as part of the procedure.

The Expos used to have an injury-prone pitcher who always suffered an injury to a different body part.

And so, one Tony Armas quickly became known as Toe-knee Arm-ass. That’s as many body parts as there are in your post all wrapped up in one frustrating player.

But, I digress.

Sheldon souray came back from a wrist issue that alsmost ended his career. We used to joke that it was a bionic wrsit because before the surgery, he could never hit the net with his hard shot. Then he came back and couldn't miss.

I still remember that hat-trick he had against Nashville with the OT winner. I was too young to be familiar with his time in NJ and Montreal pre-surgery but the way he came back was glorious.

I don't buy anything ANY player says about injuries in a contract year. Too easy to swallow lots of pain killers to hide the pain.

Only metrics are results on ice. Plus you can't hide an injury all year. It's going to show up in shooting.

Highly suspicious of Dach right now. One year contract or it's HuGo first huge mistake.

It’s fans who try to suppose he still has an injured wrist. That’s not the case and he didn’t have problems with it last year.

HuGo knows his medical record more than us. They spoke with the medical staff in Chicago.

One year contract

If he didn't have a wrist problem last year then those 26 points look even worse.

And of course, the medical staff would never, ever, ever nudge reality for a player they want to get rid off. Nope.

Chicago is rebuilding and one of the most valuable commodities is...young centers.

You can believe whatever you want, but this has red flags all over it.

Good points, but without knowing everything going on in Chi Town what's to say he and his agent had asked to be traded out of the current Shitshow of craziness going on there? I mean they traded Debrincat too? Why would anyone in their right mind trade a 30 goal scorer who is 24??
Why.........it's a scorched earth mess in Chicago, so let's just see where this leads..............without knowing all the info as to what has transpired?

Do you even realize what 3.5M$/year for a forward means in today's NHL?

That's the usual 3/4th liner salary, I feel like a lot of posters around here are still stuck in the '90s where guys were making peanuts!

Most I would give Dach is 2 year bridge deal. A 4 year contract could be another DD

4 years at 3.5M based on what was signed lately makes no sense to me. For this to make sense has to mean that they are CERTAIN that at year 3 this will look like a steal. Not sure how it will be though especially if you insist at using the guy at C while he can't rise his faceoff % higher than 40...
I'd actually quite like it. I think it's a smart gamble, worst case it's 3.5 and the cap is going up.

I guess you know better than HuGo!

If you say so, it must be true.

I don't see anything really wrong with Dach, 4 years at 3.5.

Playing a full season he just needs to produce 15ish more points and it's a fair deal the way things are going.

Worst case Ontario, he puts up 35ish points and he's likely part of a Dubois trade.

What is so hard to understand about DeBrincat? He would have been gone in 2 years anyway and they are not competing in the next 2 years. Now the return should have been better, but to keep him makes no sense.

Why is everyone obsessed with faceoffs? I don’t really get it. He’ll get better at it with time like other young players it’s not important. Jack Hughes had 34% faceoffs last year and no one say anything.

Great. Keep apologizing on behalf of me and all the other uneducated typical Habs fans. All while KK’s on ice play continues to do nothing to prove himself… very inspiring!
I think KK has a very limited skill set, but I also don’t think we did him any favours. Need a better player at 3 than this. Proper development may have made him a regular useful player, but there’s no star quality there imo.

I don’t know. It’s one of the most irrelevant stats out there. So he will win 3-4 draws every 10 instead of 5, who gives a shit about this?

When it’s time to win an important draw you put your best faceoffs guy, other than that i think it’s irrelevant, there’s ways to get the puck back.

It’s pointless, he’ll just need to get his % around 41 and he’ll be fine.

The trade is an aberration. A young 40-goal scorer for a top 10 pick in an okay drive. And Ottawa don't even add a young prospect to it? If Chicago's goal was to start rebuilding, they would have added a prospect to it. Just insane stupid return.

Jack Hughes put up 26 goals and 30 assists in only 49 games during his age 20 season. When did Dach post anything close to that?

You’re talking a significant offensive output — a lot of things can be overlooked when a player produces at that rate, not just faceoffs.

That said, yes faceoffs are are not the most important thing, they can be managed on a game situation basis and they can be improved upon but using Hughes as a Dach comparable is a huge reach.

I used their % of faceoffs from last year which was pretty much the same.

We’re talking strictly faceoffs because people are trying to make it seems like a big deal and a huge important thing.
