The biggest knock on Dach in the NHL so far is that he never uses his size in the offensive zone, cuts to the middle or pushes defenders to make plays. I think Montreal wants to work with him on that, but I wouldn't expect him to play the way you're suggesting.

Chicago bounced him from wing to center too much. He’s not a winger and his game doesn’t really fit one of a winger but when he’s at his natural position everything i said is true, yes he’ll have to use his body more and has things yo improve but he doesn’t shy of cutting to the middle or at least i saw him doing it many times.

I think Dvorak would be good fit on his LW with Dadonov on RW. Dach can focus on practicing strong side faceoffs and Dvorak can jump in for important situations/weak side faceoffs.

Anderson - Suzuki - Caufield
Dvorak - Dach - Dadonov
Hoffman - Evans - Gallagher
Drouin - Pitlick - Armia
You think one of the best face-off men in the league is better off on wing? Also while putting Pitlick at C who is much better on the wing?

Yeah. Just because he's on wing doesn't mean he can't take most of the faceoffs. Dvorak isn't really that good at holding onto puck but useful as a bumper/net front guy. Feel like he'd do better on wing letting Dach carry puck. Dadonov has good motor and skill so may be good complement.

I want Evans to get a chance to be 3rd C so dunno who'd be 4th C. Drouin to try to increase his trade value 🤣

No. Won't work. Habs are already weak at center. Leave the centermen at centre.

In his rookie season, he was producing at a 29-point pace.

His 2nd season, he had 10 pts in 18 GP (due to his injury). But that was a 45-point pace.

Last year, he was on a 30-point pace.

Nothing groundbreaking, but not too, too bad for a guy who wasn't developed properly.

The best thing about Dach is that Blackhawks fans know that he needed a new coach, they say that coaching don't help him. His injurie too don't help him. So 45 points pace in his 2nd season, that's really good.

Like Slafkovsky, he is very talented player for a big guy. Two unicorn player Habs have with Slafkovsky and Dach.

With MSL, we cain certainly hope that Kirby Dach is going to be a great top 6 C with MTL.

One comment stood out for me in the Dubois french portion of his interview was something like “you never know what happens, maybe a team drafts a guy, signs a guy and things change”… Sounded like he was describing Dach and Beck.

Really hoping this guy reaches potential, he’s fun to watch and really talented from highlights we’re seeing.

I wonder if they are trying to clear salary to sign him , and if not is is possible for them to agree to contract and sign after season starts ? When they can put players on LTIR without the negative cap affects ?

They can go 10% over the cap space before the start of the season and then Byron/Price, one of them, if not both will start the season on LTIR.

For some reason I have it in my mind that you need to be cap compliant without LTIR on the first day of the season though which is the tricky part in all this.

Edit: from puckpedia
  • If a team is cap compliant on opening day without using LTIR, or uses LTIR at any point during the season, the LTIR Pool is the Cap Hit of the LTIR player less the team’s cap space when the player goes on LTIR. For example, if a player with a $4M Cap Hit goes on LTIR when the team has $100K of Cap Space, the LTIR pool is $3.9M ($4M-$0.1M). Because of this, team’s often make several roster moves right before a player goes on LTIR in order to be as close to the cap as possible, in order to maximize the LTIR Pool
  • If a team cannot be cap compliant on opening day without using LTIR, the LTIR Pool is the amount the team exceeds the Cap. For example, if a team is $3M over the Cap and places a player on LTIR with a $4M Cap Hit for the opening roster submission, the LTIR Pool is the $3M that the team exceeded the cap

So if I'm reading it right, it's more an efficiency thing than a compliance thing.

I get the feeling the Habs are looking to Dach to sign his qualifying offer on a "show me" year.
If only the Habs had cap room to even begin formulating an offer. :sarcasm:

Whatever gets Dach going, all for it. He’s either making a statement to grab that 2nd line C spot or he’ll be fed to the Peg in a package for Dubois.
