Is it true that Romanov is still in Russia and stuck there?

Also that he received a 2 year contract offer from KHL team for like 965k a year?

If so, Hughes hoodwinked Chicago!
The offer is real and it’s being reported that he’s now vacationing in Miami. Not Chicago, but the Isles.

Where are you getting your info, a November Hockey Writers article? If the answer I’d yes the yes, he was playing with them, at that time.

Do you believe he spent all year with those guys , because one scored 40 goals and Kane had 92 points. Dach responsible?

Respectfully not sure I you are saying here
I don’t remember the article but someone compile his time on ice with every player on the team and Debrincat and Kane had the most minutes with him.

I like his skating and he’s a decent puckhandler. I can certainly see him as a quality 3rd line two-way Center. I have difficulty gauging his finishing abilities. I don’t think he’s a top-6 C on a good team yet. Suzuki has nothing to worry about losing his job this season.

Cool behind the scene from Dach’s selection.

Great share thanks so much. Makes you realize how high the stock of a youth can go but how quick the world of instant gratification can turn.

Couturier took time to produce. Coming back from injury and finding his game in the nhl plus working on his size are all things that require time.

We often expect that prospects will all break in like Crosby and Ovechkin did of yesteryear but the reality is tons of top 10 picks took time. Some didn’t even see meaningful games played until their D+3 season

For the oldtimers on this board.

Dach reminds me of a faster Jean Ratelle who was a poor man's Jean Beliveau. It must be the way he holds his stick when he is stickhandling.

Then again maybe I'm scraping the bottom of the wishing well.

I’m not convinced how much offensive upside he has. Right now, I see him a bit like Joel Otto.

cmon dude it's been 3 years and literally 0 progess. good players dont wait 6 years to be good cmon now.

See Nathan Mackinon
Took another 5 years to beat his rookie season.

I'm looking forward to see him play in Montreal, but kot a huuuuge fan of an obvious reclamation project with a bad injury.

As happened with Mackinon who got signed to an amazing deal though, you gotta buy low to strike high. There's no way you get a surefire 21 years old of that size for a 13th oa.

We really liked Romanov but if Dach can improve his face-off ability and utilize his big body to create space we won't miss Romanov for too long.

Even some people think that Kakko is a bust, I don't think that and I still believe in Kakko and look stats between Kakko and Dach after 3 season:

Kakko: 157 games, 26 goals, 32 assists, 58 points. 0,37ppg.
Dach: 152 games, 19 games, 40 assists, 59 points. 0,39ppg.

Soo... that's a huge deal by Hughes, Dach is very very talented young player and I look on Chicago Hfboard's and fans like Dach too, they say that he deserved better coach and they giving up on him too early. They like Nazar pick (I'm really high on him too), but they like Dach too!!

Can't wait to see him under MSL.

It’s a risk. We got the player with the higher upside and they got the player whose more likely to be around awhile. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hughes saw Romanov as having Emelin like upside and decided to sell while his value was high. Hopefully this works out for us. So used to seeing lateral/conservative moves from this organization that if still feels strange to see them taking risks now.

We do we keep projecting current drafted players to develop faster/better than previous draft picks when there has been a pretty stable trend that most take longer than expected? Wright and Cooley will be the exception?
I can see Wright and Colley becoming the #1 C that we dream about

I can’t see Dach becoming that with what he showed in the past 2 seasons. Can he become a good #2 C behind Suzuki ? Sure

We also projected Dach to be a #1C when he was drafted as well. Many were high on Dach and for good reason. Probably higher on Dach than Wright and Cooley in their draft year and +1.

That's kind of my point. The new shiny toy always looks better I guess.

Yes but that was 3 yrs ago

If Wright/Cooley have that type of progression the next 3 yrs, I won’t project them like that

What makes you think the new shiny toy don't have the same road as Dach? Cause they are new? I get it, you think Wright and Cooley are the exceptions and they look like #1C's in those 3 years? I'd be careful with that kind of projection cause there is a clear trend lately and not many bust out that quickly.

I don't think it really tells his real value, more that Davidson was cunning enough to get a bidding war going.

Also, I have a hard time believing Davidson would skip on the 11th just to get the 66th. I would've nabbed the 11th instead.

66th was the first pick of the 3rd round.

Columbus' 3rd round pick was 96th.

So Chicago probably opted to go with 13th + 66th rather than 11th + 96th.

There were 51 picks between 13th and 66th and there were 83 picks between 11th and 96th.

If Columbus offered their 11th + their 2nd round pick (44th), then Dach would be a Columbus Blue Jacket right now. So they were surely offering a 3rd or later, which Habs' offer is better.
