I had Mintyukov and Korchinsky between 5-10, lo and behold Anaheim and Chicago picked them right where I had them contrarily to many lists, so giving the pros/authority yaddi yaddi yadda speech doesn't work.

Dach is already on the road to bustsville. There's no way to rationalize this. It's a huge gamble with high chances of busting.
Everything right now is a gamble. There is absolutely no certainty that those picks you mention amount to anything. Stop pretending like it all isn't guess work to a certain extent.

With respect, I truly cannot understand this mindset. At this juncture, all we have are magic beans in our defensive core; Harris, Guhle, and Struble have yet to become regular sixth defensemen, let alone top four, and, quite frankly, given what we know of development uncertainty and the propensity for prospects to 'bust,' it's likely that Harris is the only one who'll carve out a marginal NHL career. We cannot say that we are trading from a position of excess when not a single one of them has truly made the NHL - Harris solid stint was too short to count as such - and, sans Romanov, our left side is non-existent at this level.
It's not like Romanov was an established top 4 Dman either.

Romanov is what he is, a defensive Dman with limited puck skills and offensive ceiling..

We literally have nothing behind Suzuki in terms of young NHL C's ready to play now...it legit goes Suzuki.......Riley Kidney.
We have a number of LHDs coming though.

That's the excess.

Gambling is about probabilities. There's a much higher probability they reach there's than Dach because we already know Dach has huge question marks. Please stop pretending it's equal probability and lazy false equivalencies.

Oh lord, spare me your academic jargon. It's all gambling. At the end of the day, the habs don't win anything with high probabilities. They win by having good players. At this point in time you have 0 idea who will reach their potential. Pretending like you do is such unwarranted arrogance.

The only thing we can do is wait. No one can predict the future, if they could we wouldn't have this draft. Enough.

Just the 26th pick would have been an overpayment

13th overall for a 3rd line C at best is absurd
Yup, that's what I really don't like.

It's bad value management. Gotta make sure he pans out cuz this will hurt us. You don't squander high picks on pure hope of salvaging a player on the road to bustsville. If the price had been meak, I'd be ok with it, but I feel Hughes got fleeced.

Whether or not it's fair, there has been a good deal of chatter surrounding Kakko as a bust on these forums.

As Ozymandias said, Dalch's career has looked intensely dubious at best thus far. High risk, almost no potential for reward.
There is truth in both, though. Kakko and Dach haven't busted yet and giving up on them before they are 23 or so would be bad. On the other hand both were rushed and Dach hasn't really shown signs of breaking out offensively. It's possible Chicago is being impatient, and it's possible that Romanov and Nazar don't break out, either.

The team is certainly bigger, we'll see if it's better.

It's a false equivalency. Make a poll on the main board and ask the question who has the most probabilities of reaching their potential. Dach will be last because he's now a known quantity, on the road to bustsville.

What do I care about what other folks on this board think? Like it makes any difference.

You have no idea who will reach their potential. It is arrogant to pretend you do.

I don't pretend I do. You're the one pretending they have the same probabilities when most will tell you they do not.

Also stop saying this fallacy. I never said I knew. I've stated about PROBABILITIES from the start.

It was a 2 part trade, the habs likely weren't going to make the first deal without having the 2nd in place so no point in wondering who they could have had with pick 13 when it was never really their target. Dach has high end skill and potential despite those complaining about his age 20-21 season of busty "numbers" 😭

I'm not pretending anything. All I am saying is we won't know what the trade will look like until all these players play for a couple of years. Probabilities mean nothing. Results are what matters. No one wins trades on probabilities.

The most astute do win on probabilities.

Keep thinking it's the same thing for all three of them for all I care. T'es dans le champs.

What matters is the results. You have no idea what the results will be. It isn't even up for debate.

Imo, I have a better inkling than you do.

Have to cross those fingers damn thight that MSL works his wonders on Dach.
If Dach issues in Chicago was coaching which impacted his confidence, MSL should be able to fix that.

You have a better inkling? LOL.

You need to come down a notch man. Don't make me dig up old prospect posts of yours where folks you like bust.

Did Hughes bust? Boqvist?

Cuz those two are the ones I thought would be good. Same with Minty and Korchinsky. Pretty sure they'll be top 4 at worst.

In Vancouver, we once brought in a guy named Taylor Pyatt.
6'4 235, former 8th OA draft pick. Management was pretty high on the guy...

He played everywhere in the lineup, even alongside the Sedins for stretches.
He even scored 23 goals in his first season in Vancouver!

However, it was all downhill from there - he proved to be too slow to be effective (even in mid-to-late 2000s), and earned the nickname "Pylon".

Here's hoping Dach is not just another Taylor Pyatt.
