swap gambler with failure. Missing Bergevin already!
Why? Because he didn't pick your choice of a prospect in Wright? News flash 2 other teams passed on him too. Just because you ignored his flaws (that were pointed out to you repeatedly) doesn't mean NHL teams felt the same way.

Anyways, it's far too early to be calling anyone a failure. I hope Wright has a great nhl career. I hope Slaf has a better one. We'll see in a few years.

Yeah I'd like to hear people apologizing to Grant McKagg. The guy is human, and makes mistakes. But he got this one right, when so many here got it wrong.

Of course he got it right. He had the Habs picking Slaf/Cooley/Wright, the only way he could be wrong was if the Habs picked Nemec.

He went 3rd overall in a way better draft. Guy is very talented. His combo of size, skating, skill, and physicality is rare. He’s similar to Slaf in that regard. Clearly HuGo value unicorns.
He has clearly regressed since his draft year...not sure I would have traded Romanov to grab him.
Like I said earlier he reminds me of a Cody Glass clone.

Seen him play in Saskatoon. Good young player. Time will tell if we payed to high of a price to get him. It does seem steep. This will end up being a very big day for HuGo. They could end up gaining or losing a lot of the fanbase depending on how their decisions today turn out.

He is a great prospect? Based on? Can't be numbers...

...well, in his 2nd year in the NHL he had 10 points in 18 games...then got hurt, surgery...then this year was thrown to the wolves by Chicago playing against Top Pairing Dmen for most of the season when he shouldn't have been...kid has talent, hands, good skater with a great 200-ft game, uses his big frame well and, once he puts on a bit of muscle, will be a force down low with the puck...people get soooo hung up on stats without seeing these young kids play...

Oh hell yeahhhhhhhhh.

Just read this, fyi:

Hawks fan here: I think he was rushed into the NHL by the last regime. He should have spent a season in juniors and the AHL BEFORE coming to the NHL. The talent and skill are there he just needs to shoot the puck more often and finish at the net
Yep, just like I said. Exact same story as KK.

Guhle and Harris made Romanov expendable and we turned that into a potential top 6 center who is 6'3, fast and skilled.

This new regime says we can develop any one so let's see if they can do it. If they can't, better to find out earlier.

Ya Dach is going to open some eyes. Way too many just looking at stats.

Yep, just like I said. Exact same story as KK.
Except Dach possesses actual talent.

Yeah i’m onboard with this, only player i’d rather at 13 is Nazar. Can’t wait to dig into his game a bit.

Dach crossed my mind earlier today when I saw the trade rumours, funny enough i’d usually be bear-ish on a player following his trajectory but i don’t think Chicago gets enough shit for how much a trash organization they’ve been recently. Regardless of who he played with as linemates I think a change of scenery helps him a bunch.

Rest + confidence is key here. Maybe he feels more confident stepping into a young rebuilding roster rather than a team just clinging onto the past. Nicholas and St. Louis have their work cut out for them.

Annoying.
