It's kind of you to mention. No titles here. It's a collegial community. I'm the same guy who years ago was JapanMontrealExpat, moved around and landed a nice position in Virginia a few years later. Still a hockey fan.

You published so much, you're a rock star to me. I haven't even published 5 times yet; although I'm no scientist, I know how much work it takes.

Happy we took a flyer on Dach, disappointed Romanov had to be shipped off to do it. He likely doesn't have huge upside, but he was a fun player to watch.

I absolutely love Romanov and I was gutted. I chose to trust this management the moment they took Slafkovsky because I would’ve taken Wright

But of course if Wright tanks, there won’t be a word uttered, let alone mea culpa’s

Let's hope that is how it will pan out...otherwise it will mean we scraped our rebuild and are in for a few more years of hurt.

Imagine trading a 13th overall pick (could have been Kemell, Lekkerimaki, Nazar) for a very recent 3rd overall pick whose team (that is in a rebuild, no less) doesn't want him (a center - something Chicago also needs) & his broken wrist anymore. Wonderful...

We should have gambled the 26th pick for a major red flag like Dach... NOT 13th...

Thanks. The name of the game is getting students to do the work for me and collaborating with other strong researchers with similar resources. I don't have the appetite for doing my own implementation any more.

My website is actually out of date. I've got several cool projects that are heating up that you would like. A breast surgery robot -cutting/cauterizing, grasping, bagging, and retracting the bagged/resected tumor- where the planning/navigation is done by my student, based on MRI and 3D ultrasound. A skull base neurosurgery (aneurysm clipping) simulator, using a haptic device from Montreal company Haply, modified with handles of real instruments that click in and out. Scoliosis surgery planning based on simulation of the patient's spine that includes the ligaments in the model, to enable surgeons to limit the amount of cutting they do to make the spine compliant enough for correction. Pilot-centered flight simulation, based on coupling of FlightGear and Pulse Physiology Engine, to recreate hypoxic episodes in fighter jets and eventually detect their onset in real-time using neural networks trained on the coupled simulation.

This is why I tell people that I plan to keep going into my 70s and 80s. This is the best I've felt about my career and the most fun I've had.

Ask Drouin about wrist injuries...

Reactions: Big Lurk
Yeah I'd like to hear people apologizing to Grant McKagg. The guy is human, and makes mistakes. But he got this one right, when so many here got it wrong.
Why in the world would people apologize to McKagg when he kept bashing and laughing at people who had different opinions than him? Would you apologize to Donald Trump if he'd get something right? lol

And what are we talking about here? Is McCagg going with is personal preference? Or is he an insider? The WHOLE thing here wasn't about him preferring Slaf. It's him BASHING Wright with the most stupidest reasons ever. Type of reasons that Réjean Tremblay would use and we'd laugh at him.

Making mistakes is all fine. If only he'd be humble about it.

Dach hasn’t looked the same since his wrist injury, but as a 19 year old in his first taste of NHL playoff action he outplayed Draisaitl going head-to-head. If he’s healed and turns things around a little, this has the potential to be a franchise-altering trade for the Habs.

ESPN take on the trade

Wow you can feel the awkwardness from the commentators about his trade. They seems as dumbfounded as I am right now.

Instead of drafting a center we traded one of our more solid defenseman for a center.

I reiterate, the comparable will be Dach and Wright. If Wright pans out and Dach does not flourish within the next two years, this will be godfully awful.

Romanov + whatever for the 13th pick was good value, but then to trade that up for Dach? Like wtf.

They better be sure he can blossom or else this is going to be the first bad gamble Hughes will have made.

Naturally, I'll extend the same benefit of doubt as I do any new GM, have hope and patience as I do with every young player, but man this feels like a missed opportunity.

Getting that other pick snagged by Arizona too.
