I would be ok with Romanov vs + 3rd pick for 13OV but not ok with Dach. He has been nothing good in offense with the Hawks. This trade could be a Dvorak 2.0 but more awful

The Athletic on the trade

It’s a handful, but the Canadiens got the player with the highest upside here, and the draft capital needed to acquire him wasn’t all that steep. Dach hasn’t shown nearly as much as many expected yet, but at 21 he’s still young and still has top-six upside. He’s not that yet and could very well bust, but one of his top comparables at the same age is Sean Couturier, an extremely promising proposition for the Canadiens. Dach has other less enticing comparables that bring pause but considering his pedigree he’s a smart bet.

For the other two teams involved – I have questions.

The Islanders essentially traded a first-round pick for Romanov, a player whose stock has plummeted after a horrific sophomore season. He’s shown less than nothing at the NHL level to be worth that price tag and it feels like Montreal is taking advantage of his previously high pedigree. While Romanov has some intriguing comparables of his own, none has the upside of Couturier and most became busts. I’m a skeptic, especially at that price tag.

The Blackhawks … I mean, woof. I could at least see why the team would trade Alex DeBrincat – they needed to get bad enough to tank, the qualifying offer, being two years away from free agency, and his age. Dach? How do you not keep a 21-year-old center with size drafted just three years ago? For 13th? It’s bad asset management, an all too common trend for the Blackhawks on draft day these days.

Canadiens: A
Islanders: C
Blackhawks: D

Who was the writer on that, that's harsh to the other 2 teams and especially on Romanov.

2 things about this deal.

1. This deal is going to help Slaf. This is a big RHC that can play a similar game and should hopefully work well together.

2. We needed to make room on D and Romy will want a big contract. This deal gets ahead of that.

I’m a bit of a loss for words. Unlike some, I’ve always liked Dach but not sure if I would had traded Romanov. That said, I do think this is a move in the right direction long-term. While the jury is out on Dach’s offence, I think Romanov’s game is what it is offensively.

Except it's made Dvorak a legit 3C (like Eller) where he will flourish.

Part of managing a team, is identifying how numerous players will excel by adding/subtracting. Not just the names on the trade.

I hate losing Romanov, but I think Dach is in a lot better hands with the Habs compared to with the Hawks where he was stuck playing under some shit coaches.

On another note, our D is going to be A LOT worse next year.. which is good news for tanking again.

Aside from my disapointment they traded away Romanov, who I liked quite a bit, Dach was a very good prospect in 2019. Up until this year, Chicago fans were big fans of his as well. He was trending well until that injury. Very eager to see how he does with a full offseason of training and under MSL.

Suddenly, the team got a whole lot younger and bigger on offense with both Slafkovsky and Dach.

Anyone has a list of good hockey players overcoming wrist injuries? There must be many of them, the wrists are exposed because of the space between gloves and other equipment padding.
