I'd vote 3rd round pick which isn't much based on his current role with the team. I read some rumors suggesting that Hughes is looking to make a trade. I am curious as to who he is looking to move? Roster players or picks?

Everything that's been said is they aren't interested in doing anything short term and the plan is still the long term vision.

If he were to make a move it would be to sell the pending UFAs and use his picks and prospects to add a veteran D on the right side or a forward with jam, both with some level of term.

For all those who want to get of rid Dach maybe they forgot how good he was getting before the injury .He was argueably our best player at that time.Patience people. It takes time to come back from this type of injury

Agreed, but "best player at that time" included a preseason and less than 4 periods of hockey. Literally one real NHL game.

You do have to give Dach lots of runway to try to figure it out. It's hurting the team bad right now, but that's actually helpful in a tank context. I'm personally not convinced he's even a center.

I strongly disagree with the premise that we're screwed if Dach doesn't figure it out, which Basu has been saying on his podcast. He might end up a middle 6 winger and that's still fine. With all our prospects and draft capital we can trade for a veteran stop gap 2C while we await a Hage and/or another draftee (Hagens or Misa if we're lucky) to take that spot.

Oh and Bennett/Reinhart where traded because they where top player on their respective teams?? No... They had red flags or under performing. Bennett was a 4th C/W in Cal.

You are answering your own question, Bennett was buried down lineup and playing with awful teammates, also, Bennett is fine defensively.

Reinhart was the best forward of an atrocious team.

How are these two comparable comparable to Dach ?

He’s not a plus plus playmaker. He’s a decent playmaker but when everyone on the ice knows you’re passing the puck, because you have the worst shot in the league, your upside is limited. Plus plus playmakers don’t average 1 assist every 3 games.

Transporting the puck through the neutral zone isn’t good enough to be a 2C on a really good team. You’re describing an average 2C.

We got ourselves a taller version of Desharnais, aren't you happy ? :sarcasm:

Right. Some folks have short memory. I was expecting Dach to take 40 games to turn the corner. And I am still expecting it.
