It's not.. but hey, who better to judge a professional athlete and their desire to improve more than a bunch of dudes with beer guts tapping the keys on a laptop.
I swear to God I'm working on losing the gut. Was doing really well too.

Then the Christmas chocolates came out. I've eaten a million calories a day for about a week now.

You way too bias on Dach. He was our worse forward tonight.

You notice the difference in third period of Wings game. When Evans played a shift with Newhook and Laine? You can tell a massive difference over Dach
I don’t know how someone can accuse another poster of bias while claiming Dach was the worse forward. He played a strong game. Looked great on the cycle. Was physical.

This is the way he needs to play every night. This was closer to 2023 Dach.

He’s been ass all season, but he was great last night

We can and should give him time to recover until the end of this season, but planning for alternatives has to start now. We can't possibly go into next season based on hope and prayers.

At this point, he is barely an NHL player.

Thought he had a good game also.....................a very slow process this season for him.
No way do they give up on him yet.....no way. The talent is there. Confidence, is not.

Exactly.

This board has a contingent of Orwellian characters who just bleat their narrative without either the will or ability to critically analyze the subject matter. Their bias and resulting message supersede reality in their minds.

Dach has been terrible this season but if you have any hockey acumen at all it should be very evident that he is beginning to turn the corner as his pace and confidence are improving. He is showing more consistent glimpses of the player that he was in the last half of his initial season here and the player that looked like an absolute stud in last years camp as well as the first 4 periods of the season before blowing out his knee.

The penalties are annoying and may always be there but at least we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

He was awful again :(

No he was not.

Disagree here.

He was around the puck (in the actual framed picture) more last night which is new. But plays where he decides to dangle 4 players on zone entry into the board on his ass is why Drouin got chased out of town. Minor penalties and late defensive coverages were still a thing.

Was not great by any stretch of the imagination with nothing to show for including a 1/7 on face offs.

I’m still on the “don’t waive or trade him for peanuts” train but please.

6'4" RH center who showed quite a bit of potential before the injury, it would be unwise to give up on him.
I’m going to be frustrated at the preferential treatment until he becomes a nhl player again but yes. The sloooooooooooooooow progress from echl to now close to ahl level is hapenning, maybe nhl by end of year who knows. Just please get him away from Laine.

He has negative value anyway so they are stuck with him on the roster. Just play Evans with Laine (or my mom for crying out loud, she could not be more painful to watch).

Yah. I’m just always annoyed of the “player x is having an awful season so they are awful even in the games when they legit play well.”

It’s the same shit every year. As soon as the board has a scapegoat there is an insane immaturity that develops where people cannot say anything good even when the player plays well.

No potential. Never any potential. He was never universally praised and drooled over or compared to Getzlaf. None of that happened. That first season he paced for 50-60, he looked like Chad Kilger. Watch the highlights and look at the comments on this thread at the time. He was always a bum

And I think some of us have watched putrid, talentless hockey for so long they see good play where there really is not and are just being hopeful.

So Dach making YouTube vids now instead of working out at the gym?

Not a good look for the kid...

Dach may get his game back but in the meantime you have to get a temporary fix such as switching Dach and Evans. Laine needs a better center currently.
I feel for Kirby but he has to get his MOJO back from Dr. Evil.

Cheers Tyson. I feel this is a moderate, constructive aproach vs the “he’s playing awesome” crowd, who are probably just reacting to the very few who have 100% given up on one of their favorites.

No one said he is playing awesome. What a made up community. Folks are saying he played good against Buffalo and Detroit. Which he did.

What’s the controversy.

I don't know what they are going to do but once we start playing contenders we need to start getting some even strength scoring from both our top lines.

Because he really didn’t. He was mid at best, multiple minus player with nothing to show for on the scoreboard or the dot. We all want him back to shape, just the “he played well” is not a shared opinion. Anderson, Evans, Heinemann… These guys are actually playing well right now.

There is no way to honestly deny that he has not improved over his last few games. He is showing progression for the first time this season.

The correct way to evaluate him is to know where he was before the injury and know where he was at the start of the season and to look for signs of him coming out of it. You can't just act like nothing has changed because it is very evident that he is regaining some of the form that had us so excited. He is still a long way from where we need him to be but to deny seeing progress is cult level scapegoating, which this fan base is notorious for.

Completely disagree, especially about the comments on this thread, that's just a complete fabrication. Just look at how people were talking about him from January 2023 onwards. People were calling him a force, a beast, etc. Guy was developing very, very well here until a serious injury.

This is terribly revisionist and absolutely false.

100% I agree he is getting better and that is super positive
100% disagree he played well for an nhler, never mind a 2nd liner (which seems like we agree on and you are also writing)

Do you forget what Colin White looked like for us last year? Dach is still playing well for an NHLer. Come on lol. Are people hyperfocusing on tiny details? Yes. But he's still making progress vs start of season.
