Dach already have 17 points in 20 games, last year, he put 26 points in 70 games.

He need to put 9 points in his 50 next games to catch up his last year production.

That's very impressive, perfect progression from him so far.

It's feels like Habs killing the 2019 draft with Kirby Dach and Cole Caufield. 🤩
I'm really looking forward to seeing how many points he can put up over a full season - can he keep it up??

Still one RFA year left after this contract expires and he will be age 25. Might cash in big time if he puts up near pt/game numbers from now till then. Cap will no doubt be $90M - $100M range at that time too.

We could be in a cap crunch in 4 years if Guhle, Slaf, and others bust out in their ELC.

For this reason, Caufield needs to be locked in now for 8 years. Signing Caufield for the 5 or 6 year term could give you headaches in that 4-6 year range and that will be a critical time for us

He’s helping them. They’re better with him.

Anderson and hoffman also played in this spot and never showed anything close to what Dach is showing. In play or points.
Which is why both of them are trade pieces. I'm just trying to stay objective with all the Dach love.

I always laugh when I read folks act like a professional sports team would sacrifice an entire year, or in many cases, years, of players, coaches, managers, careers for a 25.5% chance at drafting a potential generational player.
Generational is the key word. Magnify this while operating in a capped profit sharing league where a franchise’s capital means nothing… except for failing or failed members.

If there was a way of guaranteeing drafting that player, sure, that would be the key word.

But we all know you can't.

Umm, I didn’t suggest a “guarantee”. You even stated the probability of winning a 1OV at dead last. In any case, the point of my original post? Our franchise cannot leverage its capital might.

Kid has a chip on his shoulder and I love that about his game. Really wants to prove the doubters wrong.
It’s subtle as well. Just enough at the right time. Fantastic and happy for the kid!

You don't want to go over the top with it. Good read about him, here.

Habs going to regret passing on Badard. He's Up there with the Rocket and Beliveau. Will cost Montreal several Cups. History shows teams with the Mackinnons, Crosby, Ovechkin, Kane, Hedman types win Cups. Bedard better than all then.

How are we passing on Bedard? By not trying what the Blackhawks and Coyotes did? Don't take the 1st to add Monahan or play him on the 4th line? Let me guess, Ducks are geniuses by tanking on purpose? Or is it they just tripped and fell flat on their face like we did last year?

MSL would probably quit on us if Gorton and Hughes told them they want a 20% chance on Bedard. Remember when posters said MSL is going to screw us over on Wright last year after the Ducharme firing? We still finished last.

New season and I wonder what we could have done?
* Say no to the Monahan and 1st trade
* Trade Anderson, Eddy and others for whatever we can regardless of low offers?
* Tell MSL and the players we want to loose so don't perform?
* What else? Don't make the Dach/Romanov flip?

There will be no regret cause Bedard was low % even if we finished bottom 5.

Well considering Anderson is absolutely horrible, that's not much competition lol.

Id still rather have him on the 2nd line with Slaf but hes fine on the first too.

On the PP though, hes pretty lackluster. He should be moved in Monahans spot or taken off completely.

He’s the only one who can carry the puck in the zone, and he’s not the one doing it anymore since Matheson is back and it shows. The PP was bad but it was starting to get better before Matheson came back. I liked Dach at the point but now in the bumper spot, it’s not his spot in my opinion.

Its mostly been Suzuki doing the slingshot since the start of the season. That hasnt changed.

I think it's more like enjoying life with Suzuki and Caufield and having a coach like MSL. Dach is looking like the guy he was projected to be on draft day. Really like what I see and it's possible the best spot for him is a play making winger with size/skating/vision.

If he could improv his one timer or his hot in general it would help our pp for sure. I see him on the point on the pp sometimes and its very clear he wont take a shot. Makes me wonder if he needs a different lenght stick. His body moves weirdly.

Time to break up this line? Teams have adjusted

Come on man...they haven't generated any offense in the last 3 games and were a minus 9 combined last night.
Teams have adjusted to a one line team.
The Dvorak-Gallagher line was trending upwards the last 5-6 GP prior - they had a putrid game too last night. S*it happens..

Cgy game tomorrow night should provide more clues, I suspect the Habs will be ready to play

A very heavy team that is unpredictable. Good test for sure
