At best 25.5%. Finish just second to last and it drops to 13.5%
There's no way to maneuver your team to a specific finish.

The team will end up picking wherever their record justifies they should.

They just need to make it count, wherever they do finish, additionally, acquiring extra picks allows the opportunity to move up if required.

But sacrificing wins, to lose, is akin to sacrificing development.

Are we really ahead of the game if if we somehow end up in the bottom 3 lottery, but Caufield, Suzuki, Dach, Guhle, Harris, etc all had crap years in order to make that possible?

But, that's just me. I'd rather invest my money, then depend on winning a lottery ticket.

"Passing on Bedard"?? Even if the Habs outright gave away their best players to the teams who are near the bottom of the standings, and even if those teams all decided not to tank, and ONLY the Habs purposely, strongly wanted to lose as much as possible, and they succeeded at it, the odds that Montreal would get Bedard (the first pick) would be only 25.5%. The most likely outcome of draft rank when finishing last is drafting 3rd. If we collapse from now to the end of the season and finish second to last, we get a 13.5% chance at Bedard.
Moot since they would get Carlsson or Michkov, both of which should be slightly better than Nicke and Cole.

Here's a much better nickname, you rubes

Probably sounded cooler in your head, huh?

Do you have examples of players having development deficiencies because of this? Sounds like a made-up idea. Did 2021-2022 slow down the development of Suzuki, Caufield, Dach and Evans? Would they all be better today? Sounds unlikely.

But a team with McDavid has not reached the Finals yet....
And many teams without McDavid have yet to reach the scf. And a team with Crosby won the cup. A team with Ovy won the cup but one day before winning the cup many guys would have said and i quote "But a team with Ovechkin has not won the cup yet....". But the day after nobody ever said that ever again. And a team with Marcel Dionne never won the cup. But a team with Jagr won the cup. And my god Travis ****** ******* Moen won the cup.

What your point exactly?

So you know nobody ever pretended you can win with bad management. Winning implies a minimally competent management. After all we did not win with Price in net ...

Posting this here because if we hadn't lost Koko we probably wouldn't have traded for Dach. This is from the Hurricanes board and I thought it was hilarious. I think they're starting to have serious doubts about offer-sheeting and then signing Koko....

"This thing feels like your lady is a 9 and some weird dude tries to get with her and to get revenge you go bang his lady who is a 3."

After Suzuki and Caufield showed that they are "safe" 1st line players and even more.

Dach and Slafkovsky are two guy that they can show their high offensive talent, they have less pressure, they have high potential and i'm really happy to have 4 young forwards with that type of talent!

Slaf is starting to assert himself. Tapping his stick on the pp for the puck and looking to take the puck to the net in the offensive zone when he's not shooting it.

Yeah, I really like that. So bad that he play with Gallagher "can't pass the puck". Slafkovsky is going to be a really good at PP soon. Imagine if he play with Caufield, Suzuki and Dach on the same PP...

Yeah the only thing is, I like him on the halfwall and Suzuki and Cole already have the halfwall. I suppose he could play the bumper or net front. But for now he's good in the bumper on unit two. He brings life to it. He just doesn't have good players to play with. I'd try Evan's on the opposite halfwall.

If you read the post I was answering to, I think my point would be pretty clear to you.

Dach has been growing in confidence game after game and first the points started coming, now the physical play is coming along too. It is very clear that this kid was down on himself due to how things unraveled in Chicago, and that he is regaining his swagger.

I'll admit, I didn't like the move at first as I was a fan of Romanov - but I sure as hell like the trade now. Dach is 100% part of the new core.

Also, love to see my stupid nickname for him (Curvy Duck) has stuck! Like when I stuck Andre Gateaux on Sven Andrighetto!

Dach already have 17 points in 20 games, last year, he put 26 points in 70 games.

He need to put 9 points in his 50 next games to catch up his last year production.

That's very impressive, perfect progression from him so far.

It's feels like Habs killing the 2019 draft with Kirby Dach and Cole Caufield. 🤩

Always been a fan of his, even prior to his draft year. Hopefully he’ll eventually slot in as our #2C but playing with Suzuki and Caufield is exactly what he needed for his confidence.

Hopefully he continues to progress and work out for us. Given how we swung and missed on three #3 overalls already in the past 10 years, going 1/4 would be nice.
