It will change when he starts caring about winning, or opens his eyes.

MSL is one of the fiercest competitors to ever play the game and he won a Stanley Cup along with two scoring championships and an MVP.........playing as a left handed right winger. He moved Caufield to LW when he took over and Caufield's production exploded.

Patrick Kane and Ovechkin are other examples of Cup winners and MVP's that also play on their off wing that immediately come to mind.

Just admit you are wrong instead of making such outlandish claims.

Let me know when Caufield gets good at getting the puck out of his zone.

It's just a matter of semantics, really, folks. Caufield can play RW in the D-zone and switch over to LW in transition for maximum effect in the O-zone when using his one-timer off a feed from another right-hand shot in Suzuki.

You are forgetting that the one-timer doesn't work remotely the same way with Suzuki if Caufield is on the right side or a left hand shot from the left side.

With a left-handed C as a RW on the Suzuki line, it can all work out perfectly in a two-zone positioning, with Caufield playing RW in his zone and LW in their zone. Monahan or PLD could complete that line quite well with that deployment in mind. Along with having the necessary hockey IQ to make plays with Suzuki and Caufield, they would both add a certain physical element to the line.

When playing the right side in University hockey, Caufield was constantly shifting to the left side on the PP when inside the O-zone. St-Louis sees more benefit to Caufield playing the LW all the time. I think that, for the moment, developing that scoring chemistry with Suzuki is more important to St-Louis than turning Caufield into the next Selke recipient.

My solution for tighter D up above can come later and isn't something alien to Caufield at all and an easy thing to adhere to as a C playing wing.

Not remotely the end of the world scenario you are spelling out.

I have absolutley no issue with crossing over on offence, though Caufield at 5 on 5 does score plenty from the right side as well as the left. I just want us to play in our own zone much less. It exhausts the team, overtaxes the goalies and reduces the number of opportunities to do something dangerous. After 40 seconds bottled up, you are lucky to just dump the puck out and change, and then often submit to another attack.

11 is too small a number to be relevant on a heat map, was my point.

Ok? My point was that people are drawing conclusions on too small a sample and that the evidence from that sample doesn't even line up with those conclusions.

Honestly I've been liking him on the wing, maybe long term he ends up a play making winger. If he find chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield that could be great.

Eventually could then have a 2nd line that is a mix of

Dubois/2023 pick/Slaf

Yup! It's shaping up well and I'm not concerned about Dach on wing or at center. The goal here is to keep adding talent.

I'd say he's working out so far and he's just getting started!

I like his puck protection when he gains the zone. Not perfect but you can see potential there with Dach. He's not that easy to move off the puck and even when he looses control, he's got a lot of energy to gain it back.

I was coming to post this EXACT thing

Dach still getting tons of hate but quietly 3rd on the team in points with 7 in 11 games lol

I too think he looks better at C but we just dont gave the wingers for him yet
So be it if he has to stay with our 2 all stars

Dach hate is the same as Slafkovsky hate.

How small minded it is to stick by an original take even if all the evidence is pointing contrary to that.

I want to see him use his shot more and get in spots where he'll be able to use it more. That will be the difference between him topping as a 2nd liner/complementary top 6 players vs a 1st liner imo. It might take some time to develop this side of his game but we're in no hurry. Would like to see him on the PK too, I believe he played there in Chicago and was quite good.

But so far, can't complain about him. He's been great, his mix of size/speed/puck protection is refreshing to see. No one else on the team brings that (Slaf could eventually too). Talent level is clearly really high.

An other little thing I would want him to do more, it's to bring the puck inside and to the net with his size.

Yeah good point, that would also increase his shot output/potential.

Wouldn't be surprised if he begins doing that once he is more confident or aware of his size.
He scored his both goal going to the net (without the puck but it's a start)

If he can do that and play less in periphery with the puck, he can become an impact player. I was watching Dubois yesterday and that's a part of his game that I like, he bring the puck to the net with his size.
