He's starting to find his groove. I still wish he would shoot the puck a bit more but that's just never going to be his thing and I'm going to have to accept that. He's been very good at complementing Caufield and Suzuki and doing the little things to help them. He made a few very nifty little plays in transition yesterday to send them into the O zone with speed.

His metrics were really strong when he was running his own line yet didn't yield the points.. suddenly he's playing with good players and the production is following.

Worth also pointing out that since he's joined Suzuki and Caufield, their xGF% has gone from around around 37% to 59%.

The reason Dach is on the top line is that he makes the top line much better. The only issue is that now its the only forward line really doing anything.

So where are all Hoffmans points playing next to them then? Lol

Without looking at the scoresheet, the eye test tells me Dach is doing fine with Nick and Cole.

What frustrates me is we have to get Monahan going. He's our best trade chip at forward, along with Dvorak, who we also need to get going.

MSL giving Monahan Drouin and Armia isn't a good move. But hopefully he does better soon. I'd give Monahan Slaf and Dvorak.

Load up the 2nd line in an attempt to get Monahan and Dvorak values up so we can trade them for good future AND do our best to get one of Bedard, Fantelli, or Mishkov.

He scored his both goal going to the net (without the puck but it's a start)

If he can do that and play less in periphery with the puck, he can become an impact player. I was watching Dubois yesterday and that's a part of his game that I like, he bring the puck to the net with his size.
That's not who he is though, why keep insisting on him doing something that's not the second nature to him?

Why not just emphasize what he does well?

I agree with you.

We shouldn’t make up in our mind how a player should play and then be disappointed when they’re not what we imagine. Some here are like that.

But i also think as a player the more he’ll grow in confidence and into his body i think it’s maybe something he will start to do more often. When he does carry the puck and cut the middle he’s had success some time in the past but i think since he’s smart he prefers to do simple plays in transition that works for him since he’s even better at it.

Like he prefers using his linemates in transition for a better chance at it to work than carrying the puck himself and maybe lose the puck in his zone entry.

The biggest thing for him to do right now is engaging his feet more. He does so much with his reach but if he combined his reach with moving his feet more, he'd be even more effectively at turning pucks over, protecting the puck and making plays.

Gotta get this feet and hands moving together and he's gonna be a load.

Yep, it’s a process!

I think sometimes he thinks a little too much and it might be why but with MSL he’ll learn to trust his instinct more.

I don't want to change him and I'm not asking him by exemple to be a physical player. I just want him to improve in a certain department that I know he can do it. He will just improve as a player if he improve in that department

I'd ride out Anderson - Dvorak - Gallagher for a little bit. The Dvorak-Gallagher duo have been looking for a 3rd wheel for a while, and so far so good with Anderson.
I really get the vibe that Gally and his motor inspire Anderson to show up every night. He’s been noticeable every game since they’ve been together

Honestly I've been liking him on the wing, maybe long term he ends up a play making winger. If he find chemistry with Suzuki and Caufield that could be great.

Eventually could then have a 2nd line that is a mix of

Dubois/2023 pick/Slaf
Imagine Dubois centering Slaf and Leo Carlsson….. good luck stopping that train haha

In that scenario I'm playing

Dubois - Carlsson - Slaf

But I agree that would be an absolute unit of a line that would hem teams in their own zone.

Tbh if we get a forward in the top 10 this year I think we are golden up front if we can also get Dubois.

Our future top 9

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
Dubois - 2023 pick - Salf
Heineman - Beck - Mesar

That's gross

Notice that too. Also he needs to use his body more to establish and keep possession . He was muscling guys off the puck in pre-season by edging them out along the boards, I notice he’s reaching more now. Fixing that goes hand in hand with keeping his feet moving.

That second line would be called the Caterpillars, as in Bulldozers

Wanted to say this as well.

To add on to this though, I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) that Dach is the first player that made this line have positive underlying numbers.

Season is still young but yeah, last one was ... Kovalev!

Suzuki and Caufield are infinitely more enjoyable and less frustrating to cheer for than Mr. Kovalev... At least for me
As frustrating as Kovalev was, he was electric. Suzuki and Caufield will be a dynamic duo in the NHL we just need to give them support.
