The rebuild is still young so this isn't a setback for the team rebuild, hockey teams aren't defined by a single player despite what some people believe in here.

It is a setback for Dach thought.
Dach is missing lot of games. I has hoping he will pass over Nick Suzuki by the end of the year. He is only 22 and with major injury's. I hope he recover fast and can play the last 40 games.

He might never come back the same its not a minor injury at all, so yeah losing a year of development and a possibly career altering injury will affect him

He also had at least 1 concussion so far so he never had a break injury wise! Poor guy

Welp.

At least we have the memories.

This is just awful luck. In the grand scheme of things a full acl and mcl tear is a pretty rare injury in hockey. For it to happen on that play too… just weird and terrible luck.

Wishing Dach a good recovery. Feel awful for the kid.
The ACL is always the worst though. Sometimes players never come back the same.

I wonder if Galchenyuk would've fared better without the ACL injury in his draft year. At the time, I found the org. put the concerns under the rug because of his age and the everlasting need for a #1C...but in a sport like hockey, it's fatal.

don't worry, a total smurf kent hughes loves will step up and take his spot, then Cole and Nick can go down with injuries.

I tried to isolate the hit and put it on slo-mo.

It's difficult to see the initial point of contact from this angle but Dach's left knee appears to be hit simultaneously with his upper body.

However, that initial contact may have been immaterial as Dach was seen favoring his right knee upon returning to the bench, which lends credence to the view that it was just a freak accident.
His right leg is caught between Tinordi's legs and it's getting torn and twisted all the way from point of impact to the end point.

I know all injuries are different but Andrei Svechnikov had a torn ACL in mid-March. His timeline was 6-9 months. He started skating again in July, we’ll see when he starts playing again (it’s been 7 months now).

This sucks on so many levels. He was going to be one of the main reasons to tune in every night, nevermind helping Slaf and Newhook, Dach's progression was just as important as theirs. He is/was a huge piece of this teams future. He was poised for a breakout, such a kick in the nuts.

I feel bad for Dach, his teammates the organization and it's fans.

I don't know what's more depressing... Dach's injury or have to listen to this negative drivel from some to kick both Dach and this team while it's down.

It's quite frankly pathetic.

Maybe he retires if it’s 1973. Haven’t heard of many young nhl players retiring from a knee injury lately.
I have seen ACL rebuild surgery when I was a resident. They take part of the kneecap bone and tendon attached to tibia and create plugs that they implant in place of the original torn ACL. Quite cool and once healed it is as solid as the original.
