So far I was wrong about Hughes, Kakko, Dorothy. Probably wrong about Newhook. As he looks really good so far. Nah I was flat out wrong. Even if he doesn’t pan out the upside is there. I didn’t see it.
Right about Caufield and Seider. That’s it lol. Not flexing here at all. The rest I didn’t have an opinion on as far as I can remember.
I think that was low-ish on Seider. He had to be the biggest riser. He garnered a lot of attention quite quickly
I disagree on Seider again, I think you're having a bit of recency bias. He looked good at the WJC D1 and the WC but he was seen as a reach at 6 as Bob had him 10 spots later. He was kinda like Reinbacher where not a lot of people knew about him and a lot questionned his offensive upside.
I mean sure he's low as of today, can't have everything, but on draft day one could argue I overranked him, which is a generally good thing.
Don't think you're wrong on Dorofeyev, he's looking like he will be a heck of a player and Vegas fans are thrilled.
I can’t for the life of me understand the logic behind them getting rid of Dach. The stars aligned and they got Bedard by winning the lottery with the third best odds, but it was such a weird move to give up on a young center like that during a rebuild. It’s not like Dach was far enough along to have a major impact on their position in the standings.
They wanted to tank. They even kept Reichel down because he was doing too good for them.
They had a vision and it paid off. Would've paid off too if they got Carlsson and Fantilli and even Michkov. They were not wrong. I guess limiting Dach's ice-time could also have worked though.
There's something to be said about priming your assets though. Going into a rebuild in 2022 with a 2019 draftee is good, but in two years when players start arriving he would be 25, a lot can change in that time frame. There's also something to be said about Dach being the perfect complement to Bedard, lol. He brings the size and speed that Bedard just doesn't have and he also can play on his wing as an ace playmaker.
