If Newhook can fill a center spot. I'd have one of Monahan or Dach on Suzuki/Caufield/s line.

Up the middle
Suzuki
Monahan or Dach
Newhook
Dvorak or Evans.

Today, I'd put Dach with Suzuki and Caufield. Let Monahan win faceoffs on another line. But I'm totally fine with Monahan on the Suzuki line and Dach on the other line as a center.

Having options is a good thing.

Even though Dach currently seems like the best fit for Caufield-Suzuki, he should nevertheless definitely be developed as a center going forward; his size, style and transition game are simply too good to leave on the wing, core-wise.

If everyone’s healthy, my pre-TDL 2024 lineup would thus be:

Caufield - Suzuki - Monahan/Newhook
Newhook/Monahan - Dach - Slafkovsky
RHP
- Dvorak* - Anderson
Pearson* - Evans - Gallagher
Pezzetta, Ylonen*/Armia

As for the post-TDL 2024 lineup, it would hopefully be:

Caufield - Suzuki - Roy
Monahan - Dach - Slafkovsky
RHP
- Newhook - Anderson
Heineman - Evans - Gallagher
Pezzetta, Armia

Dach and Slaf may be a good duo BUT...Dach/Suzuki/CC is a monster line.

Where Dach plays depends just as much as what we get with Newhook and Slaf.,

I think the plan will be for Dach to center his own line, but if we need a goal or two in the third period we'll see Dach with Suz and CC the way Malkin played with Crosby in those situations.

Yes, there are no template about winning the lottery on a generational talent other than "luck".

Get a Gallagher tshirt please.

Im kind of afraid at what we will have back for Gally, ill take the Armia for now and cross my fingers he can score 20 again and have a kinda value

I was use to seeing 3-4 or even 5 Habs in the top 10 NHL scoring way back in the 70's. I like to see that again and the D/S/CC line can do that.

Given that we don't have a better 2C, yes, I can see him used like Malkin.

Me too! I think RHP will be the best complement for them aswell. Dach is the best C for Slaf.
Monahan would be the best complement for Dach and Slafkovsky, IMO. If not, because Monahan would be playing with Canfield and Suzuki, I'd go with Roy. Play RHP with Anderson. Have Newhook C them.

A very expensive 4th line of Pearson - Dvorak - Gallagher

Yesterday showcased the strength / power game Dach possesses… now comes the hard part, consistently applying that capability along w his finesse skill set, and properly integrating both aspects into his everyday game.

300 games mark has always been a good benchmark to judge a player. What you get after that sample size is pretty much the finished product.

Kirby got almost a 100 games to go and he's got plenty of room to develop some more.

I've always been high on him and 60 points would be a successful season. Still plenty of room for him to grow. Back in January I he could take over as our #1 center. The potential is here.

Give our players some time, I hate those posts about fans attacking Slafkovsky and Barron...hell even Newhook. At least give them a few 100 games under their belts.

People here already going at Newhook. Wow, at least they're committed

If Dach can eventually become a PPGish center for us we'll be in really good shape moving forward, watching him it's obvious he has all the tools to get there. His faceoffs % is starting to improve too, not worried about that.

Either way you don't let that skillset go to waste on the wing when #1C has been our biggest need for almost 30 years, we finally have someone who could fit the bill.

Suzuki is a 1C in all but sexiness. He’ll play 20+ minutes a night no issues.

We need two orbit-pole centers. Suzuki is already one and Dach will become the other one very soon. By sept 24 Dach will be an established C. Wingers will take place naturally around these 2 centers so we'll have 40 minutes combined quality players on the ice.
