I missed it, all I saw was MacDonell go down in a heap. No initial signal by either ref when they came over to look at the video. Replay wasn't shown in the arena. Calling it a cross-check instead of a high stick, it's possible they saw an intent to injure. MacDonell went to the bench initially, then to the room and didn't return.
Ended up with 14 stitches

Does anyone have a replay/description of the Kelly major? It was right off the faceoff and it was a pretty quick review so it must've been somewhat clear, and Kelly isn't someone I'd have guessed would take a major.

I assume he'll be suspended for the first 2 games, but I'm not sure he would've been in the lineup regardless.

The one thing that stuck out to me is how often I heard Mondoux's name - even though they said Mandoux every single time. Hopefully he doesn't play in the playoffs because it'd mean there's 2 D injuries, but he looks like a steady defensive defenseman with size for the next couple years.
It was off a faceoff. MacDonnell gave him a little cross check and Kelly 1-upped his with one straight in the face and twice as hard. Not sure how many games he gets but definitely will be a suspension. Doesn’t matter too much anyways though since he likely doesn’t play much in playoffs.

With all but the lottery finalized looks like Kingston picks 9th and 17th, before sitting until I believe the 71nd pick (FLNT 4th).

Past 9th picks: Shutron 2004, Werek 2007, Bennett 2012
Past 17th picks: Dunkley 2016, Frasca 2022.

Need to nail these picks and form a new core to build around after this year.
Agreed. And take players that are going to come instead of trying to reinvent the wheel and speculate about where kids may want to get traded to in case their dad is coaching a team. Do your homework. Same with the import draft. Look how good it is when you can get solid imports here.

Any idea on who would be available at #9 and #17? Who are the top prospects for the upcoming draft anyway?

From what I've heard there's a consensus top 4, then another glut of 6-8 guys in the next group that'll come down to preference.

Fairly forward heavy draft too I believe, which makes me think they look at the import draft for D.

I feel like we should be looking for forwards in this draft as well so this helps if it is a forward-heavy draft. I have really liked both Mondoux and Moore and how they've played when given the opportunity tbh.

Talk on X about the CHL allowing 3 imports instead of 2.

Would be huge for us. We can nail down the 2 Uronen twins and someone to go with them(maybe another Finnish guy?)

I believe Kingston has gotten really lucky with Finns. Lammikko, Ikonen, Meerlavien and probably more. Excuse the spellings went from memory.
Off the top of my head over the past 10-15 years Ikonen and Vainonen for 2 years together, Lammiko was great, meralainen had lots of amazing saves. Defence wasn’t great that year though so not the best numbers, Rasanen and Nyman together the same year and now Uronen and Pieniniemi.

I’d argue either rasanen and Nyman or uronen and Pieniniemi the strongest years for the Finns. Ikonen and Vainonen a rather close 3rd place.

Chase Partridge should fit in nicely if he wants to play here. I think now that Mann has established himself it will be easier but Cooper still has to be careful if he screws up this draft I do not onesee him here at training camp.

Of Uronen is not signed by Vegas I think you will see him either go AHL or stay home and play pro in Europe. There really is no need for him in the OHL and he would be taking up 2 spots on the line up.

YOu have to think that Cooper would be smart to trade for a Euro presnelty in the league and draft the first round. The second round hasn't been good to a lot of teams.

Maybe he can get Ekberg LOL

Can get the twin Uronen brothers perhaps if they tell other teams they want to go to kingston and get developed by Mann and play where his brother has had so much success this year.

Really hoping cooper uses his head and gets the 2 of them. Seems like 2 pretty obvious choices. All year have been liking fronts posts, leaving comments etc. and not just them but other family members. They all seem very invested in the fronts.

Now I’m not a scout or gm or any of that shit by any means but I mean what’s the harm in trying that out? Next year is a nothing year anyways and you likely would be picking a forward and d man regardless. Do some 1 stop shopping.

Hey if they are good and you can do it all hte better but you have to make sure they are the best laeyrs that you can get. We have all seen brothers that played and werenot as good as older or younger brother.
As to next yer being a throw away year. I am not sold on that Oshawa Ottawa and the Petes are still or going to be building. I think the top 3 is almost set Niagara Brantford Brampton. The only question is Barrie.

The question then becomes if you are Cooper adn your team is in the hunt at the deadline do youbuy or do you sell. Knowing the way that ownership sort of thinks I b eleive the pressure will be on him to buy. Make a run and see what happens.

Your defence is an unknown quatity next year.

We know that the offence is going tobe there and Betts seems like he is ready for prime time.

Next yearis gong to be interesting for sure but I am more interested inthis year

Sudbury shouldnot be a problem but how doyou see this team matching up against Barrie.

Did anyone else see that the OHL leaked the winner of the draft lottery 1 Hour before the lottery lol. They posted a teaser for the draft but forgot to blur the card that showed the Petes logo lmao.

The East is going to be awful next year, Brantford should be fine but no other East Division teams will be scaring anyone.

There's a non-zero chance 4 of the 5 best East Conference teams are are from the Central.

Kingston has no draft cupboard at all and will need to recoup. Their questionable drafting in the 06/07 age groups will catch up with them - they have 3 or 4 06s depending if Wright defers his commitment a year, and 4 or 5 07s depending on if Shewfelt plays. Not enough for any kind of a run.

They'll likely move on from any extras OAs in the offseason and Battaglia and maybe another 06 or two towards the deadline.

They dont have to be as good. They just have to have to follow their role. Next year expectation may be top 6 forward and top 4 d which is realistic. Year after when players graduate again (Battaglia traded off, Dervin gone etc) they will have an elevated role.

Wouldn’t expect them to do what Tuomas is doing now

North bay should be decent too

Sell for sure. Battaglia will be gone. Maybe Dervin too if he wants a chance somewhere else since he’s committed to penn state for 2026/27

Will be shit. Losing Burns, pieniniemi, prob 2 of bishop/mcgowan/uens at some point

6/7 games and hopefully a fronts win!

So it does not matter if you get the best players avail? Not sure that works If you can draft a better player same age but hey if that works for you guys fine no issue.

Just have to wonder what Kingston is going tohave to give up to get everyone inthe CHL to pass on them.

No remember he was an NHL drfated player so they will need to grow into the OHL and playing. What year is their draft year.

Yeah but I think you guys will be better than them you have more scoring

Depends on what the team wants to do. If they decide to stay with what they have because they are playing well and the standings while afree it probably is not the best idea again TIK This is Kingston. Thought Ottawa chould have done tht last year and we know what happened same this year with Pineli.

I can see Bishop and McGowan returning but the others it depends on what they bring next year, as well as draftees Baker could be interesting als you have the 2 first round picks that you guys were so excited to get.

Malhotra could give you a n early christmas present. Chilliwack is joinging theWHL If that happens it will be interesting to see what happens to his rights. I am sure Bratford will be screaming he is ONtario property. Also considering the set up for th eteam he may decide to come back
6/7 games and hopefully a fronts win!
That would be nice I will add Fronts win and everyone is healthy Not sure you could say that about a BFD/Bmpton series

The conference standings could very well end up Brantford, then in some order Barrie, Brampton depending on OAs, Niagara, North Bay, Ottawa.
North Bay will be way better than you think, I think. That team likely returns 8-‘06s & 7-‘07s. And it appears the battalion have a good chance to sign Hodgson, so the ‘08 class could be loaded too. North Bay would need to thin out pretty good prospects to fit in OAs, 6th pick, & import.

Malholtra committed to Brantford verbally about a month and a half ago for next season.
Their management team took a trip down to BC to convince him it was best for him. (This is from someone in their FO so i have no reason to believe its not true)

Uens has been telling people he plans to play JR C for the Napanee Raiders next season if hes not back.
I think he knows he's likely not in the plans for next year and just wants to stick around home.
I don't see a world where you can take Cal over Mcgowan to fill an OA spot and this team is going to be drowning in 20 year old next season.
