The conference standings could very well end up Brantford, then in some order Barrie, Brampton depending on OAs, Niagara, North Bay, Ottawa.
North Bay will be way better than you think, I think. That team likely returns 8-‘06s & 7-‘07s. And it appears the battalion have a good chance to sign Hodgson, so the ‘08 class could be loaded too. North Bay would need to thin out pretty good prospects to fit in OAs, 6th pick, & import.
Ottawa is going tohave nothing next year especially if the rumours that DC will be back are true, There is no scoring nor are there a lot of experienced palyers due to DC not playing them. Ottawa will likely struggle to make a fight for 8th.
I put kingston ahead of Sudbury NB and Ottawa at the deadline. Then it is up to cooper and teh braintrust on what they do.
If you have the usual hot start to the season I see you in the fight for first with Brantford

The Fronts have 11 05's - my thoughts for what it's worth.
  1. Uronen - won't be back
  2. Pickell - eligible to be an OA - would probably be a good one, but likely gone
  3. Willis - can't see him back
  4. Miedema - don't think the sabres will sign him, so probably OA eligible
  5. Hay - eligible as an OA, but not sure where he lands - he would be a good OA to have
  6. Soto - He isn't going to pursue the school route, so he could be an OA
  7. Bishop - I could see him being an OA option
  8. McGowan - Probably an OA in kingston until trade deadline
  9. Burns - won't be back
  10. Uens - won't be back
  11. Vaccari - at start of year I thought he'd probably be one of the OA's but no sure anymore

The East is going to be awful next year, Brantford should be fine but no other East Division teams will be scaring anyone.

There's a non-zero chance 4 of the 5 best East Conference teams are are from the Central.

Kingston has no draft cupboard at all and will need to recoup. Their questionable drafting in the 06/07 age groups will catch up with them - they have 3 or 4 06s depending if Wright defers his commitment a year, and 4 or 5 07s depending on if Shewfelt plays. Not enough for any kind of a run.

They'll likely move on from any extras OAs in the offseason and Battaglia and maybe another 06 or two towards the deadline.
I don't think they are going to be as bad as some people are calling out. They will have a decent group of players back, plus potential solid OA's - if they make some deadline deals, they can shore up the draft cupboards. They will have a very good goalie in Betts, which can help mask some issues too.

F's back (not including potential OA) from the team right now.
  • Battaglia
  • Hopkins
  • Dervin
  • Wright - if he defers NCAA
  • Clark
  • Buttar
  • Kelly
D back:
  • Moore
  • Mondoux
  • Williamson
G:
  • Betts

Agreed - I don't think they'll be fully bottoming out, but I don't think they'll be in any position to truly contend unless they get some incredible development from some of the young guys. It wouldn't surprise me to see them as a 5-6 seed.

But with that said - I don't think they have a chance at truly competing - but crazier things have happened.

Right now Ticketmaster is saying no tickets available - which sounds amazing but the skeptic in me is saying something weird's going on - I took this screenshot yesterday morning and there were well a thousand tickets left. I find it hard to believe that a) Kingston sold that many seats within a day and b) they wouldn't have posted something on social media about a sell-out. Hopefully I'm wrong and it's a full house - perfect time to start another home winning streak.

The players were told on Wednesday that it was almost sold out as they had some big group sales coming in.

Off topic but Cayden Lindstrom is leaving for MSU. Big name prospect would’ve been back as a 19 year old with Medicine Hat next year- has been rehabbing his injury this whole year.

Obviously guys like Battaglia are getting offers. Hopefully he doesn’t leave we really need to trade him for a good package.

We may start to see older guys that know they are returning to weaker teams, just to be dealt to who knows where, just pick an NCAA team that they know gives them stability for the year.

The whole changing landscape is fascinating.

Guys like Battaglia are going to have their NHL rights holder make that decision for them in the end.
If they sign, they are staying JR. -If they don't they will get a recommendation from their NHL rightsholder.

I think its a wait and see if there are any more rule changes that come down the pipes.
It sure does give the 19 year old unsigned players a bit of leverage thought.

Lines posted, no surprises

Battaglia-Guindon-Uronen
Miedema-Hay-Heyes
Pickell-Hopkins-Willis
Clark-Dervin-Soto

Burns-Bishop
Pieniniemi-Uens
McGowan-Williamson

Schenkel
Vaccari

Looks like Musty is the 19th forward for warm-ups, likely gametime decision.

Will be interesting to see how it really changes over the next couple years.

Good start. Just a couple things...

First and foremost. The city of Kingston does not deserve this team. There is no way there was the listed attendance of 3600. Not chance there was even 3000. Thank you Mr. Springer for not having sold the team "yet." We have what some people are saying one of our top 1-3 teams ever and the crowd tonight was pathetic. Yes it was loud in there and the people that were there did a great job to make it seem like more by being loud. To be fair, I'm sure a lot of people may have had tickets or intended to go but held off bc of people going crazy about the worst storm in history coming and media telling people to stay home. Although i get that elderly and people driving with kids would play it safe. Hopefully it's not as bad as they are predicting and they all come Sunday.

Couple small takes from the game. Hayes is one of my faves as most of you know I love the heart and soul guys that do anything to win. But I'm sure he got an ear full from man afterwards. Mann has been preaching about discipline and that type of dumb penalty he took. He had great shift but was tired. Just get off and don't slash someone for no reason way from the play like that. No reason for that. They score on the PP right away and now another quick goal away from making that game really interesting.

Props to Burns for keeping his cool. Mann said in the media that he gave him crap for that similar dumb penalty last week. Tonight in that scrum, Villeneuve suckered Burns hard in the back of the head and Burns didn't even react.

I love bishop as well but he needs to start moving his feet more on the PK to get to loose pucks instead of just standing like a tree. I'm not talking about the goal against, that was just bad luck. Get moving big fella. We need more urgency from you and you have it.

Great start. Out shooting a team by almost double in a game 1 is fantastic. Hopefully the rink is packed Sunday and the boys come out make a statement by pounding them and putting more doubt in them.

Go Fronts.

Only one close game in the other games tonight. Kitchener wins OT.

I was talking to my uncle about this during the first intermission, it's absolutely pathetic how little this team draws and regardless of what they try and do, they do not draw a crowd. I really think if Springer decides he's done with the team, Kingston loses an OHL team entirely. I have no idea why there's no support I don't know but God damn it sucks.

I know multiple season ticket holders that rarely miss games that didn’t go tonight because of how bad it was supposed to be. If season ticket holders aren’t going imagine the casual fans. I was pretty happy with the turn out tonight with the ticket master incident and the ice storm.

Absolutely and not only that but breaking Charlie’s shutout.

Will be tough keeping the composure vs Sudbury as they have a bunch of guys who just are there to fight like Street.

Not sure who he was going after but in the second he charged at one of our guys by centre ice and had his knee out and hit his own teammate- barely missing ours.

Guy has 0 role other than fighting and stirring it up. Villenueve atleast has lots of skill- street… not so much.

Saw that! Have 0 idea how the ref didn’t see that and throw Villeneuve out for that. VERY dirty play. I’m sure if burns retaliated some of the burns haters scattered throughout the arena would’ve bad mouthed the guy for sticking up for himself. What a player he is when he controls his emotions.

Gotta absolutely take game 2 Musty or no Musty. We know he will be there for game 3 and Sudbury will be amped up for their first home game.

Someone at the rink told me that Musty didn't come on the road trip to Kingston but I'm not sure how truthful that is.
