it's not bad enought to excuse quick's poor play.

It's pretty close though. Ellerby and Martinez are a complete circus out there. Muzzin is basically a 4th forward and Scuds has been more of a spare part rather than the Piece.

I can't believe the number of posters crying about Quick.

I know I shouldn't come in here after a loss. Jesus H. Christ. I'm embarrassed for some of you, I really am.

The Kings don't give up much in shots cause the Kings are number 1 with puck possession.

But when they do give up one, it's a quality shot. That cullen shot was right on top of the Circles.

Last year he would have been on his back, or that shot would have been taken from the boards.

The amount of **** Quick gets here is insane. Teams would kill to have a goalie like Quick and yet we have people shouting to bench him for the season and trade him. The goals in this game were not soft. He is keeping the team in the game, he is not single handedly losing games. How about the defense which allows guys to skate circles around them this game to get to Quick? He hasn't been as good this season but he litterally carried them to the playoffs last year.

We would not have a cup without Quick. We would not have even gotten to the playoffs without Quick. If he has one subpar season where he doesn't save every single shot in sight, fine, **** happens. The Kings are still winning the majority of their games this year. Good God, even if he was playing like a beer league goaltender out there the one guy who deserves a mulligan this season is Jonathan ****ing Quick.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't be criticized but the calls to replace him, trade him, etc. are ridiculous. Give the guy a shot to right himself, hasn't he deserved that much?

I love Quick, I really do, and I wasn't expecting him to put-up the same numbers that he did last year. What I also wasn't expecting was for him to have one of the worst save percentages in the league. .895% is garbage, I don't care what defense is playing in front of him. I hope he can turn it around

Hmmmm ... so even going 2-0-1 to open 3 games of a 5 game roadie, against 3 teams that are all in the top 8 ... and the sky is falling :scared: around here again ?

Someone forget to renew the bi-polar medication ? because it's getting thick around these parts again. :thumbd:

We get a point, coulda had 2 sure, woulda had 2 sure ... blame Nolan, blame Fraser, game should have never gone to a shoot out had it not been for those two.

Penner & Richardson in for them at Dallas tomorrow if I'm Sutter !

We all know Bernier most likely gets Dallas, but you know as pissed as Quick is after that shootout, IMO I give it to him, he has a history of strong comebacks after stuff like that.

Nobody's excused it outright, but there are reasons his play isn't great. But when it comes to people who would call any goal let in by Quick a bad one (which you continue to do), there is no appeasing them.

The guy had back surgery. You go have some quack work on your back, see how you feel. Much like the guy across the hall, Dwight Howard, this is a throwaway year for him. He rehabs, he works, he gets back to it. He's earned that and he's earned some slack. If you want to blame someone for Bernier not playing, blame the guy behind the bench.

I remember Quick was asked about others emulating his style or his advice to youngsters who want to be goalies. His response was to the effect of they better not because his style is very taxing physically. After hearing that I remember thinking he might not have a very long career.

Hopefully it is just a throwaway year and not the start of an ongoing issue.

Because he was pretty ****ing awful and let in 3 softies + 3 shootout goals? Conn Smythe is looking a lot like Dan Cloutier this year.

I would laugh if it wasnt so close to the truth. Hope he gets hot for the playoffs

Nobody has been calling for him to be traded. That's a little sensational. Nobody is saying he's not an elite goalie. All the criticsims I've seen are talking about him right now and how that will effect the cup run this year. There are issues he's battling through physically, mentaly and on top of that he's not used to the type of defense he's been getting in front of him. He'll be alright and he's getting better of late.

They should just rest him an entire season, or trade him.

1 trade and multiple bench for season.

Not going to bother dissecting the shootout, it's not like the Kings have been blowing a bunch of extra points. The game should have never gotten to that stage, and that is the fault of the fourth line tonight.

Nolan with his idiotic and unnecessary goaltender interference penalty put the team down and that eventually led to the game tying goal. Fraser's errant drop pass at the Wild blueline led to Minnesota's opening goal. The fourth line can't afford to cost this team games, and they did tonight.

Quick was the least of my concerns tonight. Hopefully tomorrow we see Penner, maybe even Richardson as well in place of Nolan and Fraser. This game also made it apparent that the Kings could still use a 2nd line LW and a big bodied defenseman. Ellerby just does not use his gifted size and reach all that much and he had some turnovers and weak clearing attempts today.

They don't appear to be a good cycling team. Those aren't the team I'm worried about, especially if the Kings spend as much time in their zone as they did tonight.

It's teams like Chicago that are also great at possession time that scare me against the Kings...

Yep, very true.

I also believe that we do a much better job at controlling the tempo of the game when we face teams that don't control the play below the dots. We like to slow things down and use our size advantage. If we had JQ playing at 100% we win this game in a walk tonight but even still we looked pretty good.

Quick loyalists keep spewing out this ******** excuse for his piss poor play.
"He had back surgery guys! He needs to rehab!"

Then why would you play him? Bernier has been tagged as being capable of being a #1 goaltender. Why would you NOT play him over a guy who supposedly needs a full season to get back into "his game". Oh, I get it, the defense is shakey without guys like Greene and Mitchell as the cornerstones. Then why not play the goalie that is more technically sound instead of playing the goalie who relies on athleticism (he had back surgery guys!!!). It's funny how LA's goalie situation as seen as a good problem - mostly for the fact the coaching staff doesn't know how to handle it.

Cause NHL coaches don't panic and cry and wine like you do.

Sutter is an NHL coach for a reason.

Johnny Quick carried the Kings (dragged them) for a reason.

Meh you guys are taking it to personal.

The Kings took a dumb penalty and the Wild made them pay.

That's what a dominant Home team does.

Should have never made it to a shootout.

Next game please, Kings lucky to get a point.

What are you on? We were dominating and lost. They are lucky to make it to ot and get an extra. We didn't get any calls

Great game tonight guys! I know the Wild got 2pts out of a skill competition from it, but they didn't beat the Kings. That was a well played game between two teams that matchup pretty well together! A playoff series between the Wild and the Kings would be intense!

See you guys Thursday! Good luck until then!

Yep and thanks for stopping by. Good game and I would love to meet again in the playoffs. Go get em and looking forward to the next meeting.

First two periods were good, but the game is 60 mins. The Kings got handled just fine in the third.

I remember us telling Blues fan's not to cry about calls in the postseason. Good teams overcome them blah blah.

Well shouldn't we be taking our own advice ?

A full season mulligan you say? Gosh golly wiz, if only we had a backup goaltender capable of being a starter!

Yes, a goalie that has played 9 games this season is obviously better than the reigning Conn Smythe. I didn't realize that Jonathan Bernier had 9 straight shutouts. You can't just give the starting goalie position away during a playoff round, especially when the Kings are doing fine in the standings and winning against great teams. It doesn't make sense. You can look at the numbers and say that according to calculations Bernier would win more but I'd rather go with the goalie that has been there, done that. They are fine if they get a decent defenseman at the deadline.

Quick is the number 1 goalie, he's earned it. Perhaps management feel that if they play bernier more behind this young defense he'll get hung out to dry and lose value as a trade piece in the near future. Who knows. Quicks just got to get his groove back, he'll be back to his exceptional best in no time

Of course it isn't as strong without Greene and Mitchell, but isn't bad. Especially not 0.895% bad. Bernier doesn't seem to have a problem with the defense.

Also hasn't played as many games. I would bet Johnny B would have a similar SV % around the same amount of games played.

Slightly better maybe 910.

The D gives up prime shots.

It's up to Sutter really.

So far Sutter wants Quick to play the majority of games. That could change, but We shall see.

People are acting like Quick hasn't had any good games this season.

He has had flashes of last year, just not consistent.
Also his SV% is in a deep hole. He would have to start posting shutout's to raise it(with the little shots Kings give up).

It's just an odd year for the guy.

Johnny B can't have a bad game ether, or you same guys will be saying bring back Quick ETC.

The difference between a .895 save percentage and a .910 is winning an extra two or three games easily (if not more). That puts us in striking distance of the division lead. I love Quick, but he needs to be better. Hell, Bryzgalov is playing in a pond hockey system in front of one of the worst defenses in the NHL and has a better save percentage than Quick.

I agree, but maybe it's time to play Bernier a little more. Something is not right about Quick, or maybe I am just VERY spoiled from last season. Performances last season wins Vezina trophies. This season he looks like a bad starting goalie. The numbers reflect that as well.
Right now I'm getting a little nervous about Quick perhaps re-injuring his back...and I'm looking forward to a few sporadic Bernier starts here and there to relieve Quick to get him fresh for the playoffs...
