Some of y’all need to relax, the skater with the most career goals for LA in today’s preseason game was Brendan Lemieux, with 31. Grundstrom, Lizotte, and Kaliyev are the only other guys on the entire Kings roster with more than NHL 10 goals.

Why don’t we reserve power plau judgement for when, I don’t know, guys other than our literal fourth line are on the ice.

Couture, Karlsson, Labanc in OT just to make sure is lol

Did Byfield return from his injury? I saw someone mention he got taken out and was staying on the bench.

Forgot to post it here. This was announced with little fanfare:

Only one of major note is Kaleb Lawrence, the Kings' final pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Hopefully he'll get more games this season than his entire OHL career (has only played 41 games since 2019).

The rest were invitees.

From that list I liked Lajoie’s camp and Lawrence seemed to have a good game sense. What do you think ?

Started listening to the new @All The Kings Men podcast this morning. Jim Fox as been most impressed with Gabe Vilardi when asked who has stuck out in training camp. He also thinks there's a good chance that Vilardi will be the RW on the 2nd line to start the season.

I think that would be great for GV, play with Danault, build up the confidence....interesting.

Sturm needs to go, this PP is bullshit.

It's only 0 out of 8, we had worse last season :)

I believe Sturm is already gone.
He was assigned headcoach in Ontario.
The offense coach that is responsible for one of the worst power play the Kings ever had,
is now in charge to teach offense to players before even hitting the Kings.

I'm looking forward to future offense prospects

I agree with Fox -- GV is my pick for Arvidsson's spot to start the season. I also think there is a PD effect playing with him. Moore really took off once he was planted on PD's line. GV could be the benefactor to start the season.

That line is still going to be counted on to do a decent amount of defensive heavy lifting. And again that is another area where the abysmal skating is going to be a problem.

Vilardi is better offensively than Fagemo, but Fagemo doesn’t have anything that is the Achilles heel of GV’s skating in any part of his game.

The fact that they started camp out with Fagemo on that line is pretty telling. They also need to find out what they have in Fagemo. They have almost 100 games of Vilardi and have a pretty good idea about his strengths and weaknesses at the NHL level. They need to find Fagemo’s before waivers hit for him next season.

Clarke should play a lot in the pre-season. That is normal for teenage players who are on the fringe of making the team, since they don’t have the AHL option.

I remember when Brown made the team out of camp back on the day he played a lot in the pre-season.

I’ve heard from someone else close to the team that Vilardi also stood out to him in a good way. I think there’s some signal here, thankfully! Really hoping Gabe figures it out and gets his opportunity this year — big fan of his talents.

Vilardi and Grundstrom having "next step" type seasons would be huge. Throw in Kaliyev and a couple of the other young prospects wild cards and we may be a better team than last season.

Gabe Vilardi knows better than anyone that his is his one big chance to break out and earn his spot.
