Vilardi at 2ppg as an 18 year old with no signs of slowing down. Pretty impressive. DeBrincat was the only guy to hit 2ppg last year, IIRC, and he was 19. I was skeptical when Rychel said he expected him to be in the NHL next season, but Vilardi is making it hard to stay skeptical.

DeBrincat is also 5ft7 165lbs. Usually guys that small who light up junior have a hard time translating their game to the NHL. The transistion for bigger guys like Vilardi is usually easier. He's 6ft3 201lbs.

He's the best prospect we've had since Schenn for sure. When Schenn reached his peak in Junior he got to about 1.97ppg and he was 19 years old.

If Vilardi finishes out the season at his current pace, he'll have nothing left to prove in the OHL. If he has a good camp he'll be in the NHL next year IMO.

Yeah, I even believe his last goal was somewhere begin December.

During that time one goal was taken back as well and he hasnt scored ever since.

Odd

Agreed. I read somewhere the reason Rychel traded Vilardi, was that he believes that he will be in the NHL next year...and included Sean Day and got lots of assets back / high picks.
AND, this is before Vilardi has gone on this dominating tear...agree with Ziggy too - back injury and no camp and he just comes out of the gate, mid season and killing it.
I do believe he makes the Kings next year. Makes me wonder if Carter is shopped off season, to make room. I almost wish Kingston wasn't on the way to a long playoff and possible Memorial Cup, so Vilsrdi could have a shot to play this year....but with the additions of Carter now and Reider, forward situation looking good. Funny to see Vilardi like #50 or whatever in top prospects list...he should be top 10 on any list.
