Sutter paired Forbort/Gravel a few shifts again.

These two guys together just take away all of your ice.

Our monsters were monsters. Dominating effort. Flyers weren't even in the same building for 75% of the game, good of Budaj to stay focused and calm when they did push. Doughty and Kopitar with point streaks which is exactly what we need.

Tomorrow will be a major challenge, but I'm extremely proud of these guys staying in the race long enough to round into form and of Budaj for full on restarting his NHL career.

Not to take away from Budaj but give props to the defense as well, McNabb tying a guy up taking away a sure goal, the rookies playing lockdown...no one got near our net with any frequency. Forbort and Gravel using their reach to snuff plays is glorious. Best d-core since 2012 imo.

It's really great that the D is coming together. That expansion draft has he got me on the edge though

Kopitar was epic on that last shift. Breaks up the Flyers play in the Kings zone, retrieves the puck, then makes the play in the offensive zone to win the game.

Great stuff.

That little stutter step he made to blow past the defender reminded me of Jason Allison. Masterful.

Really hope we don't lose Dowd or Forbort to expansion. It would be just our luck that one of those guys gets poached.

I wonder what's gonna happen to LaDue? He's stuck in limbo right now.

Would expose Dowd/McNabb, at this point, the Kings can't afford to lose Forbort.

Forbort is cheap, younger, and just what the Kings needed to replace Mitchell.

I figured this would happen. Both scenarios were bad--rookies flounder and we suck and lose one anyway, rookies are good and we have to lose one for nothing. It's just the way things have gone since 2014  your reward is you lose a good roster player for nothing.

Anyone else notice who DS put with Doughty to shut everything down in the last minute of reg?

Actually no, who was it, Forbort?

Kings will not lose a roster player they don't want to lose in the draft. The Vegas hand is a lot weaker than people think.

Muzzin and Doughty had just finished a 1:22 second shift. Muzzin was the one that came off the ice for Forbort. Otherwise it would've been an over two minute shift for Muzzin. Doughty just double shifted.

Is Quick going to come back and ruin Budaj's Vezina bid?? Budaj currently leads the NHL in GAA and shutouts, is 9th in save %, and 6th in wins.

Yep.

HE IS a terrible goalie! its all because of the system! He is a system goalie! Just ask Quick and former kings goalies!

If he wanted Muzzin out there he would have called a timeout.

Darryl Sutter never calls timeouts to rest players. Nothing more than a guy needing a shift change and Sutter put the next best guy out there.

Correct,

It was a simple shift change, Forbort is the next best guy.

Would like to see more games of:

Doughty /Muzzin
Forbort/Gravel
A-Mart/McNabb

I think Forbort/Gravel can handle the minutes. Probably get burned a couple times, but see what they got.

Actually he does. Especially late in the game if there's an icing etc. The reality is Forbert is better than Muzzin defensively.

Again not trying to take anything away from Budaj but they are back to back shutouts of 22 and 17 saves, one of which is a historically terrible team. That's less shots combined than we put up against the Avs.

Budaj is playing within his means and confident and he's playing compact forcing shooters to beat him outside, nothing is going THROUGH him (which is sometimes the issue with Quick's athleticism). It's great for the regular season, but I'm still skeptical to how he will be when under seige in playoff-type games. He saved the game once vs. the Pens, but similar games, he was leaky. Tomorrow will be a good test.

No argument here, if it weren't for Drew, Forbort would be our best defensive d-man. And he can cover time and space and his own mistakes effectively with his skating and reach if he needs to. Kid is a monster.

Very good sign that Kopi has picked his game up. This team is dog **** when he's playing poorly. Carter continues to be godlike this season.

lol

Also I heard Brayden Schenn's name all of twice today, not shedding any tears there.

Yup. And one of those times was saying how many powerplay goals he has.

Something has switched in Kopitar and Brown the last couple games. They are driving to the middle and being especially assertive. I wonder if they were talked to or if they just decided to stop playing on the perimeter. Either way I hope it continues.
