Thats what I thought too watching in jr, he's over a PPG in the AHL and has 8 pts in 13 games with CBJ this season. I haven't saw him play since jr.DBB gonna have a hard time in the NHL with those feet.

Which is exactly what should have happened in his first games. This guy is smart. He knows that he doesn't know the NHL. Smartest thing to do is come up and play as safely as possible. Dumbest thing to do is come in and try to impress by making some huge hit or dance through the other team which results in a bad turnover.First couple games I barely heard his name, last night was a much nicer showing where he hit the post and got his name called more
I think management sees him as a possible top 6 in the NHL because he is used on PP1 in Laval. Just a guess but if you are developing for a 3rd line center role why would you be a key catalyst on PP1?Which is exactly what should have happened in his first games. This guy is smart. He kept it simple and garnered enough trust from MSL to get recalled. He's a bit more comfortable now and so he starts playing his game more. More to come.
Again, I see him as a solid 3C without question. But he could be a 2C. His name comes up in trade proposals, I don't want to see him moved because I think he has real upside and will be great in the dot.
Not to mention his first game was on a B2B2B.Which is basically how every non-elite prospects look like in there first few nhl games...
Because he is the best you have ? I didn't know that, interesting.I think management sees him as a possible top 6 in the NHL because he is used on PP1 in Laval. Just a guess but if you are developing for a 3rd line center role why would you be a key catalyst on PP1?

Beck may top out as a 3rd liner, what i said was that management thinks he might have top 6 upside.I don't think Joel Armia was a third liner in junior hockey.
I expected more from Slaf after almost 3 seasonsSo they aren't going to tell Vagkovský the same thing? Dude is prancing around like a 230lb Versace Purse. The just demand so little out of our first round pick
he gets a free pass, but they will cut the icetime and callout Jackeye, Laine etc. So he's going to suddenly turn it around when his 8.5 kicks in? lolBeck may top out as a 3rd liner, what i said was that management thinks he might have top 6 upside.

This may be his 3rd aeason but he is still only 20. The coaches expect growing pains from a big 20 year old. Not for a player in their mid twenties like Laine. With Xhekaj they were trying to get him to be less reckless.he gets a free pass, but they will cut the icetime and callout Jackeye, Laine etc. So he's going to suddenly turn it around when his 8.5 kicks in? lol
No excuse for his bullshit effort and how soft he is on the puck especially in the defensive zoneThis may be his 3rd aeason but he is still only 20. It'll be interesting to see what HuGo does with this kid. If he ends staying with the Habs - despite being necessary to Laval's title aspirations, I would hazard to guess Dvorak and or Evans are gone this TDL

I'd get sick if we traded Beck for Cozens, I really would. Beck is a serious , swiss army knife guy who will play hard and may have higher upside than Cozens. Even if he doesn't realize higher production upside he could be more valuable in being a guy who gets you through the playoffs kind of guy. I mean did you see him hit those 2 guys behind the net within 2 seconds of each other ? Like damn.Habs appear to be in on Cozens. I just wonder what our offer is? Beck and Newhook? Newhook's production so far in the NHL is not far off from Cozens. They get an NHL player on a bridge (save cap space) and a young center who projects as a 3C.... basically NHL ready and can finish the season with them.
Hate to trade Beck but that might be a good hockey trade for both teams

Why would you put a ceiling on Beck like that? I also think he’s likely an elite 3C, but if Philip Danault can be better than that, so can Beck.Beck is a 3C if he reaches is ceiling. I like him a lot but he's not going to be a 2C if that's what you are thinking. It's nice to have pieces like this but we can't project them to a point that is a reach. Beck does not have enough offensive gifts to be any more than a 3C and he probably takes a long as Evans to get there.
I'd do the Beck/Newhook for Cozens trade. Cozens may disappoint like Dach but we just don't know. At the end of the day, this does not derail our future.
I think that would be a good hockey trade that helps both teams. MSL can work with Cozens to get the best out of him. You never know how that plays out and Cozens did score 30 goals. He's faded from that yes but that is proven NHL production and he has it in him to get back to that level.
Beck looks to be much further ahead of where Evans was at the same age.Probably will be on the Evans development track. I keep saying it, most guys don't do shit from age 18-24. Beck is probably one of those types that takes a while like Evans and when he is 25+, you have a decent 3C.
Habs will have many of these types moving forward. 18-24 years requires a lot of patience and I don't think our media/fans have it.
Cozens scored 30 with 14.7 % shooting percentage. In no other year has he had a shooting % remotely close to that. So right now that's a fluke year to me. He would have had about 18 goals and 56 points with a more normalized shooting %. Similar to Dach numbers two years ago if prorated.Beck is a 3C if he reaches is ceiling. With Beck I see a possibly better Danault.
