Now that the Kings might start scaring teams again and after a 1-0 OT win back east...cue the recrudescence of mainboard thread "The Kings are everything that's wrong with the NHL".

The Flyers fans in the mainboard thread were pretty upset with how boring the game was.

But that happens when you get doubled up in possession, it's boring when you never have the puck.

Could have been a 5-0 game instead, that wouldn't have made it more fun, blame your own team for handling the puck like a hand grenade and praying for a miracle.

It's about that time we gotta start rooting for some other teams, too! Busy night:

ANA @ TBL
PIT @ STL
DET @ NSH
CHI @ DAL
MIN @ VAN
ARI @ SJS

Fun stuff to watch :)

Yup. And one of those times was saying how many powerplay goals he has.

Something has switched in Kopitar and Brown the last couple games. They are driving to the middle and being especially assertive. I wonder if they were talked to or if they just decided to stop playing on the perimeter. Either way I hope it continues.

Knock on wood but imo they hit the switch, playing playoff hockey. The forechecks are a ton more intense, and now with more than one guy. It may be a bit premature, but with the net presence and the fore checking it's noticeable.

Kopitar finally looks to be 100%.

Brown has been playing well all season, if you ask me. Brown only needs 5 points to match his total of last year, and there is 32 games left in the season.

A Sutter quote that I think is important for a sense of perspective per Rosen:

"On the five-game winning streak:
The way we’d lose a couple, we’re the worst team in the league. We win a couple, we’re the best. I don’t really worry. We’re just sitting around here long enough, it doesn’t bother me one way or the other. We could’ve been standing here losing 1-0 – it’s that close."

Initially, I didn't really buy the whole "taking the C off will alleviate pressure" thinking. But you know what, there might be something there. He's playing with a hell of a lot more confidence and trying things he hasn't tried in 3 years.

Man Philly commits a ton of turnovers.

If Philly was playing the Sharks right now, it would 5-0 Sharks.

And have since Hakstol got here. That would be the by product of his gimmicky college system which works when you play once a week on Sat , 40 games a year against teenagers but not in the NHL 82 games a year against the best professionals in the world with a pro coach behind the bench. That would be the reason they are the ENTIRE team is are minus. All my years as a Flyers fan, never saw a team where evry player in the lineup is on the wrong side of 0. Awful
Neuvirth deserved a better fate, he was the only reason it made it to OT and is a product of the team or lack thereof in front of him. He'll fare much better on whatever team he's on next year.

As for the SHarks, they play the Flyers later this week, Blues, Isles and Sharks. Gonna be a long week.

Some scouts/draft peeps, saying this years draft, could be another 1999 awful like draft.

Good thing we won't have a first round pick then :sarcasm:

This is why tanking is a flawed philosophy.

Guarantee we get a half-decent player in the mid-to-late first round regardless, though I wouldn't be shocked to see them move down for 2 2nds or something.

I'm fine with them trading the 1st so long as the player they acquire isn't a soon to be UFA. Then again, with the expansion draft looming not sure if they should risk it.

They may have to protect 4D, which would leave them to only protect 4F.

Ah, I was totally joking, but I agree. I think DL has learned his lesson and has some perspective right now.

I missed the game but I'm happy for the win.

May have a decent chance tomorrow. Caps went to OT today, too.

Edit: I derped. was not OT.

I think the kings go 4-4-1 with possibly trading a pick to Vegas so vegas doesn't select Dowd.

The question is what pick. Will be interesting to see what all the teams do.

I have no expectations for tomorrow morning's game.

I want revenge for last year when bad reffing late in the game (allowing JW to interfere and prevent JQ from playing a puck that ended up in the net and losing out on at least a point). Kings are developing a lot of confidence, maybe they catch the caps napping tomorrow.
