Muzzin for Brassard, Jordy Bellerive and a 2019 2nd round pick.

Gaining almost 6 years in age with a similar cap hit for 2 additional seasons might be the +. I have no idea what Muzzin would command on the trade market, but it can't be too much more than Maatta. Same with Pearson. Hagelin is probably about right.

Start with their 1st (lottery or Top 10 protect it, I suspect they will make the playoffs). Throw in Brassard to keep it relatively cap neutral.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not sure what Brassard would do for LA since his contract is up at the end of the season. And I think this is the season that the Pens finally start hanging on to their 1st round pick. But if GM Rutherford likes a player enough he'll definitely use it to get said player. And hopefully he's wise enough to protect it given how poor the team has been this season.

And just as a quick FYI, all of Maatta, Brassard, and Bellerive are having off years this season. Maatta because of his skating; Brassard because who knows why; and Bellerive because he was literally on fire this offseason and has burned hands.

Last Friday I went to Staples Center and watched 3 college basketball games (I dunno some tournament). New Mexico and USC got blown out by 25 and 35 points. The ASU vs Nevada game was very entertaining though and it was much more entertaining than Kings hockey. Even though New Mexico and USC were getting blown out those kids were still out there busting their butts trying to impress their coaches, and the kids off the bench from St. Marys and TCU were as well.

One other thing that was great, they didn't play music at ear splitting levels every time there was a stoppage in a play or during the intermission.

I think I will be spending my entertainment dollars to see ASU play at Pauley Pavillion, and definitely not at a Kings game.

Was better than paying Gaborik to eat popcorn last year. However now it should be Dion eating it

I thought this initially too. The way Dion played last year, I assumed if we retained $1.75 million we could get someone to trade a mid-level pick for him at the deadline. Phaneuf for $3.5 million would find a taker, right? Sure, and it would be better than buying out Gaborik. Of course, the way he's played this year has thrown that idea out the window. I don't think he is tradable any more. His buyout is higher than Gaborik's would have been. So the trade has backfired, on and off the ice.

The crappy thing is I think with a NMC he cannot be waived. Would be fine having him play in Ontario for his Cap hit less a mil

So the only team not to put up over 5 goals against NJ were the Kings and their only win on their west coast roadtrip. Nobody bust long losing streaks better than the Kings and make bad teams look good.

TYVM for this update.

Muzzin for a 1st
Martinez for a 1st
Toffoli for a 1st

Toffoli not worth a 1st...unless the Kings were adding their 2nd round. If can get a second rounder for him, take it.

Muzzin is actually worth more than a 1st, though. Plus 6 is unreal on this team. And playing better of late...fully engaged and playing more physical.

Does it have to be in 2019?
It depends on what Blake values and how he sees this draft compared to next years draft. Personally, I'd be happy with 2020 1sts in return. I think we'd be more likely to get a 1st if we have to wait an extra year. But I haven't heard a lot of hype about that draft yet, other than Lefreniere. I heard that last years draft was full of high potential D and this years draft is supposed to be full of high end C prospects. (Heard, as in read on HFBoards).

Toffoli might not be worth a 1st, but he doesn't have so little value that we'd have to add a 2nd in order to get a 1st in return. But personally, I can see him fetching a 1st from a true contender at the deadline, but not from a bubble team. From a bubble team though, most definitely a 2nd and another pick/prospect.

I agree that Muzzin is worth more than a 1st.

Absolute rubbish, again from you....you might not think that he is worth a first,

Since 2014-2015, he has 99 goals, you know who he is above? Kopitar, Panarin, Tyler Johnson, Trochek,

You know who is just above him? Eberle, Rakell, Barkov, Carter.

He absolutely is worth a 1st....

This may very well be true. With 31 teams in the NHL, late 1st round picks aren't what they used to be.

The problem with trading Muzzin or Martinez is that the Kings have exactly zero defensemen in Ontario or anywhere else who are even close to being able to step into an NHL job - let alone a top 4 role to replace the traded player. This is the real Lombardi (and to an extent Futa) legacy. How do you sell the paying fans (not the internet fans) the idea of paying to watch Ontario talent at Los Angeles prices? You can't trade every player for a draft pick...at some point you have to trade them for guys that can actually play in the league right now. This mass hysteria to corner the market on #1 picks is silly as well as completely unrealistic.

The Mayor was losing his **** tonight on people who frankly want the team to lose at this point, as if that's completely irrational.

They are still butt hurt about trading Pearson.....there are 11 players on this Kings team with 3 or more goals. Tanner has 3 playing with Malkin. Mayor doesn't understand we need to move out those bad contacts and rebuild. Getting a top 3 pick and shedding bad contracts for picks now is the difference between a 3-5 years turaround or 10+ more years of crap.

I think trade one of them, and you have to roll with Walker and one of the kids to see what you have....or you keep Muzzin and Martinez til they are 40 etc.
