While no player (besides the players that were traded - Fantenberg and Muzzin) have played well this season, Carter hasn't done anything right. He's super slow, forgot how to shoot, his passing and playmaking ability went bye bye, and his compete level is down a couple of pegs; It's quite apparent that couple with his crappy play his leadership role on the team has been completely non-existent, something the Kings are sorely lacking to help bring in the youth.

I'm sorry, but if you feel Carter isn't one of the biggest problems on the team this year, you're out to lunch.

No you’re right I agree. Let me rephrase by saying yes he is one of the main reasons as well of where we are in the standings but I think or want to believe I guess that Carter will rebound. The entire team is playing uninspired hockey and almost as if they’re just playing to get their checks and can’t wait to get back to enjoying nightlife in LA. I just think there are bigger problems wrong with this team than Carter.

I think the injury set him back and it takes time to get used to it . Karlsson hasn’t looked like his old self either after a similar injury. So I’m hoping Carter looks semi his old self next year and can produce in a similar role as Stoll on the 3rd line because we are thin at Center with Vilardi , and Kempe still growing .

Concur.

The dude is a shell of his former self.

Despite this, I'm happy he wasn't dealt for a crummy 5th rounder. After all, it takes quite a while to rebound after a major surgery. His style of play seems like he has more left in the tank than whatever this past season is/was.

Style of play is one thing, his body should be ok to play at a high enough level to be useful but what about his heart/brain? From a fans point of view, he seems done and contributes nothing on the leadership side. I have no problem admitting that I dont know what is going on at practice or in the locker room, but from what I see... i see a player that no longer has any drive.

Phaneuf was a really good player in his early 20's, look at his first 4 years in the league. He truly has never been the same player since he left Calgary and at this point he is barely an NHL player. He helps drive the tank so I'm ok with that, really wish his contract ended after next season though, that last year is going to string because the Kings could be a playoff caliber team and he is a disaster both on the ice and with his cap hit.

You just described Kopitars play too. Lazy backchecks, poor passing into the middle that never works, especially on the pp.Then when he does shoot, he misses so bad it goes around the glass right to the other team and it's a breakway. Hell, the entire team has sucked.

Please tell me Im not the only fan that just cannot stand those rose coloured glass wearing rah rah boys Bernstein and Hoven?!

My god its even painful to follow their beat writers. Hoven tweets absolute crap that is more vague then a fortune cookie, then retweets them months later tooting his own horn. I would paste them here but I have no clue how to do so. Talking about Dean's stamp on the team, come back to him in 2020. He says such double edged stuff he can never be wrong, then blows his own horn some more.

As for Bernstein, talk about a total homer. The only player he despises is LaDue. Everyone else he has eyes for, then proceeds to plant his lips firmly around corporate with every single tweet.

Why couldnt we have traded these two for futures on TDL day?!

I figure if we can't get jack **** for Carter this year, we can't do any worse next year.
That was kind of my point to begin with. I feel that if he's just going through the motions, let him do that elsewhere and don't waste a roster spot because one is unmotivated or possibly threatening retirement as reported in the media. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I don't think so.

The way these guys are playing it's a damn good thing no one really got traded. Bring in a bunch of kids who actually give a damn and they might ruin the chase for Hughes. With this current group of I dont give a shits they have a real good shot at picking 1/2.

Oh, I'm well aware of his play as well. I've whined about Kopitar's board play and losing puck battles here ad nauseam.

The dude looks as tired and deflated as his raccoon eyes exhibit.

Trade everyone. No point in keeping anyone around. Trade Clifford so he can play for a team that'd appreciate his effort. Brown isn't doing anything so there's no point in keeping him either.

While we're at it, we need to totally clean house. The whole coaching staff, scouting and developmental teams need to go as well. Same with the marketing and ticket sales department. The woman who empties out the garbage cans at Toyota Center should be fired as well. Let's clean house completely. Time to start over ;)

I've been say it since October. If LA wants to turn it around, they need to get out from under Kopitar and DD#8. Both are declining assets with NMC's. Everyone keeps saying how crappy Dion is, and he is very crappy, his 12 minutes a night are not the main problem. It's the 22+ from #11, it's the 26+ from #8, the 20+ from #23 and it's 18+ from #77 and #73. That's LA's biggest problem. It's their top players.
I'd argue DD8 is still a top 5 dman and IF LA and Doughty wanted to be moved, he could be moved. But it'll have to be sooner than later. Gonna be 30 next season and NO I don't believe he'll play until he's 40. He has less good years ahead of him than are behind him. Has to be considered.
But I've been beating the move #11 drum all season. Dude is a 2nd line center paired with 3rd line wings. At 10 mil, it's a bad match in LA. He just doesn't elevate anyone else's game to the point where you'd pair young stars with him. His game has become predictable in a sedentary way. No Bueno looking forward.
With Carter, they're just screwed. His hands are shot and the league knows it. Hope he heals over Summer, just don't have him train with #11 or #8 as they sip sweet vermouth reminiscing about the Cup years.

But I know it's nearly impossible for this to happen and that's what pisses me off.

This is going to take years to turn around. There's not much they can do to speed this up. Wait out the poop in the yard until it turns white and crusty.

I need to be better at letting go and just accepting this fate. #ThankyouFor2012-2014
