Not defending Weight in any way and don't know or care how he did as a coach. Are we not talking about Assistant GM? This is the Kevyn Adams - GM thread and the current dialog is related to a tweet upthread that states that Adams appears to be looking for someone to assist him in the GM role. To be honest, I don't know anything of Weight as a potential GM candidate, but it would be nice to limit the discussion to that - as I think that was the intent of the post that started this portion of the discussion.

This.

now the question is, how much of an influence did Weight have as an “advisor” to Snow or what role he actually played. Also, curious how much, if any for front office moves, was he involved as the coach.

Yes. He is saying internal salary cap f#%k off and trade me.. No second line.. Trade.. Etc..

Jack... My bro you are too competitive to leave plus we love you.. You are buffalo .. You can overcome.. The legacy of all hockey legacies is..... Yep , here.

Get a goalie while yer at it and now you have to call any trade target or fa target to assure.. But yea! We want you here w a team around you
You've earned it.. This is home we're w you.. No Jack no tickets.. Its ours as well.

Of course Adams would say that he's not shopping Eichel. Only an idiot would let on that he's desperate to make a deal. So he's either not shopping him or not not shopping him. :sarcasm:

What's the consensus on Adams? Don't have time to read this thread.

Can't possibly be worse than Botterill right???
Or be careful what you wish for situation and we see a ROR 2.0, 3.0. and 4.0 trade?

there are those very optimistic about him, and then others that are Cautious about him at this point.

He showed an idea of filling a hole that his predecessor created. He didn’t use valuable assets to do so, which a good portion of the board felt was necessary to do.

Still too early to stamp down how to feel about the guy for me. It’s one thing to make moves, it’s a another to see them work together and get results. There is still a lot to do for him to reshape, to re-sign guys, and handle other aspects of the team.

I’ll say this for their draft prep...they easily have the coolest named people running the ship. Jeremiah Crowe and Jason Nightingale. But for serious...I am excited that the analytics guy not only survived but now has actual power.

assuming he’s competent in implementing analytics in the scouting process

They need to add Justin Bourne, and maybe George Smiley.

Adams has been handed a ton of cap space in an off season with an unprecedented amount of players available. It will be very easy to judge Adams based on the critical UFA season. I believe the Pegulas have lost trust in the NHL old boys club and wanted someone they trusted explicitly.
Enter Adams.

thnx dude much appreciated & anyone else who responded. I think it's easy to panic with a new GM and assume everyone will be traded but I guess we'll find out.

He says they're finalizing discussions on who to qualify later today
He keeps things close to the vest, sounds like he's had discussions with Larsson, but doesn't give any indication how it's going. He says a lot without giving anything away, but it sounds more rational than Botterill.
Paul Hamilton looks better. I think the radio schedule was too much for him.
He's open to any and all scenarios with the #8 pick. The S word brings back bad memories.
Conversation has replaced situation as the new favorite GM word

I watched the Kevyn Adams First Days video and it was very good.

However, we do have a replacement for, “it’s a situation”

Adam’s is “ I’m a big believer in........”
