Buffalo Sabres and Kevyn Adams sunk 10 million into

Jost
Bryson
Olofsson
Stillman

Let that sink in.
Don't forget the 14th highest paid defenseman in the league next year in Owen Powers.

Add in Robinson and that would be 20 million in

Jost, Bryson, Olofsson, Stillman, Robinson, Power.

It’s increasingly hard to see the vision
This is great. Terry should ask Kevyn.... What is the Plan? How do we get there?

I wish someone in the media would ask that.

Another 5m in Girgensons and Okposo you got 15m on 6 guys who can't influence the game.

What's worse is that Jost and Stillman were players that they targeted last year. They picked Tyson off waivers, and actively traded a mid prospect for Stillman. Neither acquisition made any sense, and then they actively went out and signed players to larger contracts to push Stillman off the depth chart. Then they re-signed Jost to be a 14th forward, and paid him $2M for his contributions.

I just don't get it. I guess Eric Robinson is next off to Rochester - at least he is only making $1.6M

The Jost acquisition off of waivers made sense. The team needed someone to PK after Asplund went from promisingly serviceable to god awful at ES. It may not have been a great move in the big picture, but it was a free solid upgrade over what Asplund was bringing.

No one in the decimated Buffalo media will BOTHER asking that. The better question that should be asked is this: Does Pegs even GIVE a damn about the Sabres any more? If not, sell the team to a person or group that DOES. Then we can start fixing things.

Just one?
this whole f***ing organization is a problem.
The fish rots from the head down. And in this case, that means Terry Pegula. Unless and until he sells the team to someone that CARES and is willing to build a perennial contender, NOTHING WILL CHANGE.

I feel like someone should do a risk assessment on the org. I've felt a top down review by someone with a hockey pedigree has been needed since Frakky Warbucks bought the team and that isn't any different.

I remember when they used to have Christiano doing pro scouting... and he was outsourcing to people and canvasing for opinions on UDFAs. People you know. Someone who might even be posting in this reply.

I have posted this message so many times, I'm tired of typing. The Sabres will not win the Cup as long as he is the owner.

Hell, at this point I'd be open to getting Ryan Reynolds in as part of an ownership group. If nothing else, he can inject some sorely needed star power to a team that needs it. (Just look at the series Welcome to Wrexham to see what I'm talking about; yes, different sport but the same general idea.)

Pegula just agreed to do massive arena renovations to the KBC, he ain't going anywhere. Only thing we can hope is that he eventually learns to f*** off or gets too old to remember to care.

Jost. Another example of a player that starts off well in Buffalo but regresses. It's sort of a pattern.
I mentioned this a few times. Guys coming here and just getting beaten down because of the losing culture. Its constantly happening.

Starting to see it with Dahlin and hopefully Benson doesn't get sucked in.

I call it the meat grinder...Players or prospects come here they get tossed into the grinder and it all comes out the other side and they all get beat down

A bit rich for him unless part of a group (Wrexham was only 2.5M gbp), and one of the reasons he was in on Ottawa was being Canadian I would believe.

If Terry didn't F*** with the Alumni and essentially insult them with the "care" he puts towards them and celebrations for them, we would be hearing rumblings of members of the Alumni that are worried about the state of the organization wanting to see Structural/Core changes to the organization. We probably would be seeing someone similar to Patty L going to him and voicing his opinion.

Changes need to happen at the very top, meaning Terry. The blueprint for many rebuilds and organizational structures are right in his face, but he continues to think he knows better than others.

Remember when KA gave Owen Powers a 8 year extension that makes him the 14th highest paid defenseman in the entire NHL after one season? No bridge deal, straight from 925,000 to 8.375 million. He's never played good defense and he's not exactly an offensive defenseman. A 100,000 dollar difference than Miro Heiskanen.

More than John Carlson, Brent Burns, Victor Hedman, Quinn Hughes, Aaron Ekblad, Morgan Reilly, Vince Dunn, etc.

From Chris Jastrzembski on X

"As first dropped in The Chat, the most regular season games played without reaching the playoffs (active players):
Jeff Skinner (965 GP)
Rasmus Ristolainen (695 GP)
Zemgus Girgensons (645 GP)
Rasmus Dahlin (390 GP)
Brady Tkachuk (389 GP)
Filip Hronek (344 GP)
Tage Thompson (327 GP)
Casey Mittelstadt (313 GP)
Henri Jokiharju (303 GP)
Victor Olofsson (293 GP)

8 of the 10 are current or former Sabres...Skinner, Risto, and Girgensons are also the top three in terms of all-time players as well."

This organization is that pathetic. Why Pegula made Botterill sign Skinner to that deal is beyond me.
O .Power next year and beyond contract is worst. I was shocked.

Robinson was called as steal after few games

Where did you see that because as far as I know there have been no concrete plans so far for the rotting decrepit garbage dump known as KBC.

They had like a 5yr plan laid out where they were going to do renovations in phases for different aspects of the arena

Unfortunately this is behind a paywall.

The key takeaways the team is planning to address:
  • Replacing the arena’s main center-hung scoreboard for the ‘24-’25 season, upgrading a board that dates to 2007 and has fallen far behind its counterparts across the NHL. At 22 feet by 12.6 feet, its video display is one of the five smallest in the league.
  • Addressing and upgrading the arena’s sound system, studying the acoustics and the work of the lapendary panels that hang from the ceiling.
  • Replacing the arena’s roof, which is the original version dating to the building’s 1996 opening
  • In succeeding years, addressing the seating bowl as the team may look to make major revisions to the 27-year-old building with an eye on gathering areas that have become popular in arenas and stadiums across the country.
The rest of the story goes into more details on each of those points. New seating is something they're looking at but probably not until these other points are completed, so a few years off.

So essentially the lipstick on a pig approach. Visit Wells Fargo Center in Philly to see what work has to be done to make KBC an acceptable NHL venue.
