When you actually have faith and confidence in your coaching staff, the last thing you do is announce to the world you have faith and confidence in your coaching staff.

They’re goners.

ehhh I don't think that's the case with Donnie and Adams. Marek recently said he had heard from multiple people that Granato isn't getting fired. That was a week or two ago, so if we f*** up this upcoming home stand maybe things change. But we'll see.

Good News guys, Adams got his to do list for the rest of the season done already:

Well historically in GM speak, faith and confidence in the coaches generally proceeds the culling

When it gets so bad that the question is being asked, it's already headed in that direction.

But I worry with this group of management, from the ownership on down, that they are okay with what's going on and believe it all to be part of the plan. They'll continue to preach "process" and "development" and be way too slow to make any major changes.

Things you hear in public vs actual meaning:

“I’m totally sober”. = shitfaced beyond recognition.

“I trust my wife” = cheating whore who’s shagged half the neighborhood.

“These aren’t the droids we’re looking for” = these are exactly the f***ing droids were looking for.

I could go on and on. Lol

For those thinking Granato will be an in season firing, remember it took it the team going 0-10-2 (and 6-18-4 overall) in a playoffs or bust season for them to fire Krueger.

It's going to take an epically bad run for Granato to be fired in season. Just an absolute implosion of epic magnitude for it to happen.

Well if we circle back around to the topic of faith/confidence, you've described something I have a lot of confidence can and will happen this season.

I'm going to go one step further and even if we implode.....Donny starts 24/25 as the HC. Maybe KA will actually throw his weight around a bit and demand that Donny get new assistants.

But I truly think that Adams and company didn't see this season the same way the fans do/did. I don't think for them it was "playoffs or bust". If it were, I think Donny might already be fired.

There's a good team here.....we see it every other game or so. I just don't think Adams is feeling any pressure from above and thus has no urgency to do anything other than watch.

This is not a good team, by any rational measure. That is a myth. There are a few good players but that is it. If a GM and owner aren’t in the business of putting a professional quality product on the ice, then they also shouldn’t charge for admission to see them. No team in the history of the NHL was built and won through pure organic means. It can’t be done. By the time one group matures the other half ages out. Having draft capital and prospects gives a GM the means to ice a competitive team. If the GM is waiting for some magical date to say ok we’re now competing, then that person is not qualified to be a GM. Ownership may not care about wins and losses either. If that is the case, the fans shouldn’t care either. Just ignore them. I don’t give f@$k what the braintrust thought Or believed. It is irrelevant. If they are not trying to compete the league should take all their draft picks away until they are. You are either part of the league or you are some development program for the rest of the teams. I hope the fams pull the plug and stop supporting this organization financially. Empty building. I feel for sth who shelled out money for this.

Took 2023 off. 2024 has to be the year he does his goddamned job or this team needs to be sold.

Adams is the 13th longest tenured GM (Technically 14th as Ron Francis was hired by Seattle in 2019 but really the team didn't start play until 2022) and Granato is the 8th longest tenured HC. Anyone who tries to push the "Sabres are quick to fire people" narrative like a certain Buffalo newspaper guy does are full of it.

honestly... what else do you give yourself for this shit?! Apparently they don't want to change anything there so that things can finally run better. What arguments does Kevin Adams need to finally get off his ass?! In truth, every problem is overlooked. Either he has orders from the owner to stay quiet and sit out the bullshit the team is playing, or he is unable and afraid to take action in any way, or he is such a close friend of Granato that he is guaranteed a job, no matter how things go. No matter what it actually is, it's just pathetic and shameful. My hope is dwindling more and more every day that I will ever see the Sabres make the playoffs.
13 years... you have to imagine that!! That's a joke! and the bad thing is that nothing changes...no consequences for anyone. The fans are reassured and satisfied with these f***ed up slogans of perseverance that are repeated over and over again. It's a mystery to me that they don't feel stupid at some point when they tell the bullshit over and over again. I would be in favor of selling the franchise, a change of location is now the last alternative. At some point you just lose faith that things will ever get better

I am a supporter of Adams. On balance I think he has done a good job. He took over a very difficult situation and navigated the team to a point where they are widely considered to have near the best collection of under 24 talent in the league. We went from being a disaster at the time that he took over to being on the cusp of the playoffs at the end of last season. This season is the first point in his time as GM where the team has fallen short of what could be considered general and reasonable expectations. I understand that for some fans nothing short of the playoffs is/has been acceptable all along (fair enough), but the hockey world in general, I think, views the Sabres as having made steady and solid progress from the moment Krueger was fired up to the final games of last season. From game 82 of last season until now though, things have definitely gone south. The question now is, does Adams have it in him to course correct?

I'm also a fan of Granato. He is to be credited for his role in developing many of our players and in getting us to a spot in the standings where the playoffs became a legitimate expectation. I think though that we are at the point where a coaching change is near inevitable.

Adams has been around long enough to know that is how these things work. The question I think is whether Adams is currently considering options for a mid-season change where you bring in someone who starts laying the groundwork now for how the team will look and play next season (see Vancouver and the change to Tocchet last year), or if he waits until year end when there might be an additional veteran coach or two available who he is more comfortable with.

None of this is to say that the sole issue with the team is coaching.

Most/all other teams would have made the coaching change when it was clear in November that things werent getting back on the tracks.

Last night was probably yet another flash point where all other organizations demand better and make moves. The de-pantsing by Ottawa, while Tkachuk totally laughs in their face, throwing haymakers at the franchise defenseman with zero reservations or fear, and soon after that, jumping Krebs and others, just adding insult to injury. No response by Buffalo. Just roll over, show their belly, and stammer on about "growth", "learning", and "figuring it out" after the game.

The entire organization is basically a perpetual stall tactic. It is a huge slap in the face and insult to the fans. There should be a lot more anger after last night, and that has nothing to do with fans thinking about the last 12 years or whatever okposo deflects their ineptitude to.
If last night's game happened to Boston, and Tkachuk running through them like that, fans and the organization (and media) would demand better

And that would be typical of this organization.

Make the players answer questions as to why their coach was fired. Letting them all off the hook would be wrong.

Of course, three quarters of them would sneak out of the locker room and not answer questions.

I really hate this team.
