When this loser’s “patience” ends with a terrible desperation trade that is a clear loser from the start…the last of the holdouts will finally turn on him.

I think he fires Donny first but to be honest. I think both are here next year. They are Pegs boys.

Botterill's mismanagement of young players like Thompson and Mittelstadt who both should have been sent to Rochester nearly a season or more prior to their actual assignment. Botterill's constant inability to find depth pieces despite draining draft capital. Botterill's consistent loss of value in very nearly every trade he brokered. Then he brokers the second of two terrible HC's on his watch in Kreuger? He's been an AGM in Seattle which was the position he was supposedly good at in Pittsburgh. If teams are interviewing him, I'm sure stories that he was somehow not responsible for all the stupidity he perpetrated on the Sabres are going to flow from those who like him - Lebrun comes to mind, so too Dreger. It's like listening to Eich change his stories after he left to make him sound less like the entitled prick he is.

Thompson working out was a once in a lifetime save that still doesn't look good in retrospect with how Big Head handled Thompson's development.

Adams’s mismanagement of all players including failure to acquire a partner for Power and making promises to a 21 year old handcuffing his goaltending for years. Adams constant inability to find depth pieces because he cares too much about his draft capital. Adams utter lack of trades. Adams not only doesn’t fire Granato but can’t even get MATT ELLIS off the bench? He’s never held another front office job in hockey and he will not hold one after this. his resume in the league is failed assistant coach, briefly.

The difference between Botterill and Adams is Botterill tried and failed. Adams doesn’t even try. Fails too. His team in year 4 is worse than that last Botterill team. With Krueger.

Things have to change here. He refuses. No other team would hire him for his job…they wouldn’t hire him to be the assistant to the job he has. but of course we know better. What does everyone else know? Where’s their 13 year drought that nearly a quarter of belongs to a GM a whose team is circling the drain. Again.

Sure. Look at the all the depth Adams acquired. (Jost, Hino, Robinson, etc). No different then Remi Elie

Bad deals in:
Berglund, Sobotka as part of the O'Reilly deal - pure cap dumps who were analytically some of the worst players in the league in the season prior to the Blues unloading them.
Frolik, fully cooked, for a 4th.
Simmonds for a 5th.
Vesey for a 3rd.
Kahun for Sheary and Rodrigues... with no intention of QAing Kahun.
Miller for a 2nd and a 5th that turned into dust.
Montour for Guhle and a first... they recoup a third.
Sheary for a 4th but the condition that they had to retain Hunwick on the roster all year or it would become a 3rd. Hunwich was abysmal and took up roster space if you recall.
Scott Wilson for a 5th.
Beaulieu for a 3rd, they later recoup a 6th.

Poor deals out:
The Kahun trade above.
Fedun traded from the Sabres for a 7th and he winds up an every night defenseman in Dallas for the rest of that season.
Scandella out for a 4th who then goes for a 2nd a few weeks later.
A 6th for a later 6th.
Two late-round deals where they moved 2 picks for 1 when the statistical model is to move for more selections in later rounds to increase the odds of success.

Botts bled picks and talent and alienated Reinhart while caving to Eichel and Skinner. He was the absolute worst.

Didn’t say he was good but I think KA rivals him.

They’re all terrible in different ways

I've said they have had bad ones for the better part of 15 years now. Regier's directive from LQ/BTG to make the playoffs but have a skeleton crew left him unable to adapt to the free-spending of the new ownership. He also was patient to a fault - something Adams has borrowed. Murray... that guy could have turned gold leaf into sewage. Botts... see above.

Adams has some of the traits of Regier (waiting) and some of the worst of Bowman (holding all his picks and then draftees like they are all going to work) and Botterill (almost zero jam/physical play). He hasn't gotten to the "go out to find a captain in trade" route that a few of them have, but it's come up as of tonight's GDT.

I trust no one in this organization right now. Not any of the players, certainly not the ownership, the GM or the coaching staff. None of them have shown they will do the work to make it right and a few of them - Pegula in particular - seem to have a knack for making things worse every time they act.

You forgot not signing Hagel on the list of Bott's sins.

But you can lob pretty much all of those criticisms or similar at Adams.

Adams mismanagement of young players like Levi, UPL, Samuelsson, Benson, Krebs, Power, RJ.

Adams constant inability to find depth pieces despite having 4 off-season's, the most cap space in the league during this time period and the most draft capital.

Adams let Ullmark walk for nothing after protecting him in the expansion draft.

Adams potential mismanagement of the cap with the Cozens, Samuelsson, Thompson, Power and maybe even Dahlin extensions. (i still think most of them bounce back under the next regime and at least make the contracts look fair, but the danger is absolutely there that he got swindled)

Adams also held onto the failed coach in Kreuger way past his expiration date, and is now doing the same with Donnie.

What kind of GM hands Kyle Okposo a $2.5mil contract at age 35 and constructs a team so poorly that Okposo is in it's top 6 in ice time in 2023?

GMTM, Botts, and Adams are all in the same tier of garbage from my perspective.

The issue of youth as a difference between the two - Adams hasn't (yet) kept anyone up and around the team by saying they want them to practice with the NHL team while they couldn't find their ass from the elbow on the ice among his youth. Power was excellent in transition last year. Peterka and Quinn had to prove it before getting the call up. Rosen and Kulich aren't regulars because they haven't proven it yet. RJohnson has regularly been one of their better defenders. Compare that to how hard Thompson and Mittelstadt struggled and it's at least one thing in Adams' favor compared to to his predecessor.

That said, I have not like a GM in Buffalo since Muckler. So... hating on the guy in that position is not new for me.

It’s like Adams didn’t learn from the previous failures and is repeating history.

Didn’t love Regier but he did some really good things, especially with all the handcuffs and ownership changes, one going to jail, etc.

Krebs has struggled just as hard as Thompson or Mitts ever did. UPL and Levi are goalies, so it's harder to judge and they have both had a handful of good games, but have also laid some real stinkers. But expecting either of them to come in and be the starter with no back up plan this year is just as idiotic as expecting Mitts to be the 2c with no back up plan after the ROR trade. The parallels here couldn't be clearer between Botts and Adams.

The mismanagement of Power is not getting him a good partner (or coach), and making him play 25 minutes a night at 19-21 years old on a tire fire of a team. (direct parallel to Dahlin under Botts)

RJ is getting jerked around playing 8 minutes a night, but he has looked like one of their better defenders.

Thompson working out is also a once in a lifetime save for both Adams and Donnie. Are either of them still employed without Tage's explosion? This is a consistent 75> point team under Adams when Tage isn't randomly putting up a 94 point season.

edit: I've put way more effort into my last 2 posts than Adams has into the last 2 seasons. Logging off for the night

First, hire a winning, veteran HC and competent staff, and then let's see if this roster can win more consistently.

If Adams refuses to do the first, or a new coach can't accomplish the second, then I'll be on the fire Adams train.

Think they have next season also to make the playoffs. If they fail making playoffs and are out they gone by next Christmas .

I think terry wants to see Adams really having one last summer on him having the chance really trying before firing him

While I agree with the sentiment, Adams has already waited to long, wasted another season and now should be fired also. Now if he would've fired Granato like he should've a month ago, yeah, that would've bought Adams some time with me.
