I don't understand what you are trying to say.

You want to give them goals they haven't scored to make up the difference?

We went backwards other teams improved while the GM sat on his hands.

What tough decisions did he make that he is claiming he is capable of?

I am saying the goal differential is almost equal to the underperformance of Tage Tuch and Cozens directly. The rest of our team is scoring about as expected except those 3.

Cool, but that doesn't change the standings or statistics. Do you not think every season players overperform and underperform and that includes Detroit and Arizona.

You can make excuses all you want but Adams is not a good GM.

Not really sure what you are on about. The question was asked what has gone so wrong with the +- differential. 3 players massively underperforming in goals. That is 3 of your top 5 goal scorers slumping bad. PP is bad. There is your answer. it's the same team, less goals. Here is your answer why less goals and wins.

I went over the old posts because I remember you criticizing me for saying they play poor defense
I read some of them and you really need to take the blinders off.

I am not going to discuss something with you when previously you criticized because I said this team is playing poor defensively. You have actually gone as far as defending their play in the defensive zone.

You aren't even watching the same product on the ice as me.

Granato doesn't even have what it takes to make the playoffs and you think he can make it to the cup finals. Oh lordy.

Congrats you spend way too much time digging through posts. The defense was in Granato's ability to coach the team. You could see the constant adjustments the players were making every game to fix their issues from the previous game. I still believe this is on the players. Again, the issue is not learning what to do, but do it consistently in addition to scoring. Putting it all together consistently is incredibly hard. You've seen it all the time, bad game followed by an excellent game against a top team. The players are capable of it but aren't replicating good games.

I went through your posts because I wanted to see if you have a real unbiased opinion or if you are protective of Granato and Adams beyond just being a fan. People get a soft spot for coaches and GMs and it interferes with their perspective.

Multiple times you have criticized me for my opinion but it turns out I was right every time.

All you do is making excuses for them. The coach is awful, the GM doesn't get the team help the team needs and it will be year 4 this team misses the playoffs under Adams and 3 under Granato.

Thompson is 26, Tuch 27, Mittelstadt 25. Patience is wearing thin.

No other team in the NHL would keep these two clowns on except Pegula.

Who TF has an unbiased opinion? No Sabres fan does. Someone had to try and talk you all off of a ledge at game 5..... my stance is not the same as it was then. My cannon is ready to fire into the sun.

That is a real dumb way to look at things considering how everyone was shocked Benson fell to 13. We got absolutely lucky by keeping that pick.

All those asks were pick 13 +

I don't know where you get your crystal ball but it is very possible we make the playoffs last year with a Meier or a Chychrun... we will never know. What we do know is we did nothing and missed..and we are even in a worse position now.

After the Chychrun trade, Adams said he was surprised Arizona accepted the offer they did from Ottawa, given that the Coyotes wanted 2/3 of the Sabres 2023 1st, Savoie and Kulich.

We may made it with making those deals but if it were me I'm not giving up what it costs for either one of those guys. This team isn't at the stage where giving up firsts is worth it to just make the playoffs. Especially for Meier as odds are he wasn't going to sign here.
I don't buy the Meier wouldn't sign here talk. Especially coming off a playoff season.

And I don't think you're respecting the absolute rot and stench associated with missing the playoffs for the last 12 or 13 yrs. It absolutely would of been worth it just to get in.

It's not really specifically about Chychrun .. I wasn't all that high on bringing him in. But something significant should of been done.. and I'm not sure he ever said that was the ask. Just that it was higher for Sabres than it turned out for Ottawa

I find the anger towards Adams to be misplaced.

We don’t know what his marching orders are, but I find it much more likely the critiques fall on Pegula’s door. There seems instruction not to overspend and not to get a new coach (because money). What is seemingly under Adams’ control, drafting, has gone well. He’s made subtle moves that’d help round out a competent franchise, but with weak links at both ends of himself I think Adams is kinda hamstrung in what he can do.

Even when reality hits you in the face you still ignore it.

Yzerman literally did zero what did you call it? "Big one sided trade coups"?

Another question. Do you think "one sided trade coups" are the only thing that exist?

Why not be cheeky when you are using ridiculous hyperbole like "one sided trade coups" are the only thing that exist in the NHL.

Its not even reality. Whats the point of even discussing it with you when you think the only way Adams can improve the team is with "one sided trade coups" LOL

Who the heck even said "one sided trade coups" other than you?

Dude, you need professional help.

And a primer on reading comprehension.

The meaning of my trade coup statement was that posters who think Adams can trade scraps for legitimate roster upgrades are not being realistic.

The cost for 90% of the upgrades people were banging the drum for in this forum was Benson ++.

You asked me how do I know the asking price would have been a 2023+ and accused me of "pulling shit out of a hat", when the actual cost was either stated my Adams himself, or the players were ultimately traded for that value.

@Jim Bob gave you a well articulated explanation and your response was "Boeser could have been had for free" (which was never true, by the way), and Boeser, an offensive winger who can't and won't be troubled to play D was never an upgrade for a team who's biggest problem is playing D.

I asked you to give an example of what specific substantial upgrade Adams could have made that would not cost Benson+.

Still waiting to hear all about this great value trade plan you believe Adams missed out on.

The problem is you can't fire the owner. So it feels like complaining about him is a waste. I agree he could very well be the problem, but nothing can be changed about that.

While we can't fire the owners, public pushback is never a bad thing if he is the problem (which I don't think anyone can deny he is definitely part of it).

What if Adams presence is actually a buffer or safety valve, if you will, that has been preventing Terry from forcing the front office into making a bunch of Ville Leino type moves? :sarcasm:

I know you're being sarcastic, but we saw what happens when Terry doesn't get his way, people don't last long. We would know by now if that was the case.

Adams GM’s like a man who knows he is never getting hired by another team anyway. He can’t explain away his decisions in that chair. He’s a disaster. So yeah…the only reason to continue to operate as he has is to please the one person who would give you this job in the whole world.

When the embarrassment hits a high enough point Pegula will turn on him and hire a different yes man. Adams should have some self respect and resign

Anger is wasted, but knowing who is actually at fault is important. Adams is the one guy who has shown any competence, imo, so it’d likely be a step backwards to throw that dude out with the bathwater. We’d be an even less desirable market at that point, and would need to throw money at the issue- something Pegula doesn’t seem to want to do.

..roundabout way of saying I think anger towards Adams is misplaced, and futile itself.

I don't know... with the situation with Kim, and Terry being distracted with the Bills, he may be less involved at the moment?

Adams' NHL pedigree and his prior relationship with Terry may also buy him some leeway due to the respect, which I do not believe was there with Murray or Botts.

This is all speculation on my part, but I do believe Granato and Adams presented a united rebuild roadmap to Terry, and it was signed off on. I do not know if Adams would survive a Granato firing, or if they would be a package deal that Terry tires of.

I am truly terrified to find out who he is going to hire next though, and I think everyone in this place should be too.

It's exciting. Every successful franchise is successful in the same way, but every dysfunctional franchise is awful in its own way. We just get another long awaited book release in the series. There could be fan service (Ted Nolan, LaFontaine, Housley), huckster frauds (Ralph Krueger), pitiable yes men (Kevyn Adams), or those individuals that provide meme-able non sequiturs to liven up the place (Garden Gloves Ron Rolston, PP Slap Tim Murray).

So he listens to his staff on the draft. That’s a positive.

Is no one there aware that his coach is abysmal? That he couldn’t pair up dmen appropriately with a gun to his head? That every single player except Peterka and Joker has regressed a ton? No one is there to tell him who any good player Additions are or that doing nothing year to year is a lot of the problem? No one there knows Power has needed a partner or carrying three goalies is a disaster or that those goalies are shit? Or that making promises to a 21 year old goalie is a joke? Or that the forward pipeline is a largely redundant pile of assets that can’t play all on the same team? Or that you need some forwards that are hard to play against and he has zero?

Does no one know that…or does he not listen on anything but the draft?

Doesnt really matter. He sits at the center of all the bad choices and all the failure to choose. Drafting BPA when you pick high doesnt even the scales.

I’m pointing out that we really don’t know what Adams is allowed to do, at this point. If it’s his call not to fire Granato, you’re right, Adams would then need to go as well. But the above is so obvious that I gotta think there’s more at play, and that’d be Pegula saying “eh, season is spent anyways, I’m not paying another coach now!”

Maybe that’s not the case, but it explains a lot more to me. The lack of spending and big moves, and more relevant, the refusal to fire a coach when everyone knows it’s necessary.

That could be …but it is equally as likely that a first timer who has never been there before is telling the boss “give it time, all part of the plan, didn’t expect to be this far so soon, let’s let it play out”. Either way both options suck.

I am not opposed to keeping Adams. If this team had a real coach there is a possibility this team would be fighting for first place in the conference. Also I get its on Adams for hiring Granato and not firing Granato but with Pegula there its hard to tell whats really going on.

If Adams is willing to fire Granato and bring in a real coach and we win then great. If Adams wants to go down with the ship then fire them both.

On the flip side of that if Pegula only wants yes men on board then we are screwed and whats the point of firing anyone if he will just bring in Adams 2.0 and Granato 2.0

Good to know they will get back to boat racing, but I’m curious why they don’t just lean all the way in to that philosophy, bench EJ, Robinson, bring up Kulich and just f***ing go for it. If you’re going to be a bear, be a gaddamn grizzly. You know?
