This team misses the playoffs this year and this guy needs to go.

Its the way of the business. Granato 20 games and gone if we are losing.
I would be surprised if the Pegulas fired Adams merely for on-ice results.

Murray and Botterill were fired because they did not work with the Pegulas in the manner they liked and not because of the playoff drought.

I doubt that changes anytime soon.

Now whether Adams fires Granato if things are not looking good 20-40 games in...

This is how I feel about this and I its never gonna change.

No GM that misses the playoffs 4 years in a row should keep their job, No one.

David Poile missed the playoffs in 5 straight seasons and did not win a playoff series in 11 straight seasons and was not fired as the Predators GM.

Regier won 6 series in his first 4 seasons as GM and then missed the playoffs for three straight years and survived.

So while you think that is the case, some owners disagree. As long as Adams avoids off-ice drama and conflicts with ownership, I expect him to be retained.

Cool, but I have my own opinions. Others have theirs. Claud Julien was fired and the Devils were second in the eastern conference. Some people find losing acceptable. I don't.

How many cups have the Predators and Sabres win? Zero.

New Jersey Devils? 3

Many coaches and GMs are fired even when they win.

I guess thats why the NHL and its fans look at us like a joke of an organization.

NJ has also made the playoffs in 2 of the last 11 seasons while having 6 different head coaches.

Replacing Granato with Appert mid-season is unlikely to make this team a juggernaut.

Making the playoffs sure does sound nice. you know at least once a decade.

Tarasenko or Tatar are not the difference that makes this team a lot better to start this season.

Tage has 1 goal in 6 games. Tuch has 1 assist in 6 games.

Skinner-Thompson-Tuch combined for 118 goals last season (1.44 g/gp). They have 4 goals in 6 games so far this season (0.67 g/gp).

They have two goals from the D and they are from Samuelsson and EJ.

The team is shooting 6.8% to a league average of 10.0% after shooting 11.0% last season and 9.3% in 21-22.

They are off to a bad start not because of the lack of roster moves, especially up front. It's because guys that everyone expects to be really good are off to really bad starts to the season.

And they have not figured out what their issues are at home.
Failure isn't on 1 forward move not made, but Tarasenko is hot right now. Sure would ease the fact that no one is hot here atm.

The problem with the team is they don’t have effective bottom 6 players on the team or in the system. Adams seems more than happy with Girgs and Okposo and Olofsson and Jost, who just aren’t good enough.

And there’s no one to call up because we don’t ever target those types of players at any level. It’s a problem that Adams created and isn’t even attempting to fix.

It’s particularly frustrating because it’s the least difficult part of the roster to fix.
What?

In the first 4 games our bottom 6 had our best line and an effective 4th line.

Greenway/Mitts/Benson
Girgs/Krebs or Jost/Okposo

The top 6 has been struggling since the start of the year. It’s had one good game after Greenway and Mitts were inserted into it. But even then guys like Tuch and Tage are still fighting it.

Yes we do have some bottom 6 options if they chose to call them up with Kozak/Rousek with longer shots like Murray/Cederqvist as well.

Kozak, Rousek, Cederqvist, Nadeau, Wahlberg, and Miedema could all develop into decent bottom 6 NHL forwards, IMO.

I think Weissbach and Murray are going to be good AHLers that aren't quite good enough for NHL duty.

Talking about prospects six games in makes me want to cry.

I feel like 2 of those guys will make the NHL, tops, if we're talking actual careers with 200 games or more; and most of them still need two seasons of development after this one.

So yeah, our bottom 6 is mediocre in the NHL, and there's nothing promising or helpful in the system for the short and medium term. We need a bridge between Girgs/Okposo/Jost/Olofsson and Wahlberg, who we shouldn't even be thinking about this far out when playoffs are the goal.

Who are we replacing them with? I'm fine if you think a guy needs to be replaced, but let's see some ideas of who we think can do a better job than them, before we start pulling the trigger. They aren't "we just need to get them away from the organization" levels of bad (see Krueger). If we treat them as such, and fire them without a plan/replacement in place, then we are doing a bigger disservice than the actually firing of them.

I have no idea why you think Kozak, Rousek, and Cederqvist need to be in the AHL through the 25-26 season.

Rousek looked primed to be NHL-ready this season with how he ended last season, for instance.

I cannot wait for this to happen with the Sabres struggling to start the season.

Fans & media: Do something, Kevyn!

Sabres sign Patrick Kane

Fans & media: Not that, Kevyn!

Is that better?
If he flat replaces Olofsson?

I don't think we get worse from that at 5v5, and I have he improves our PP a lot.

Despite the hockey twitter shade on the idea.

There is something perversely amusing about the idea arguably the greatest American born player ever would be beneath this organization.

Lots of experience, young guys and talented GMs and coaches out there. Take your pick.

We can't fire Granato because "Whp are we replacing them with?" Can't be a serious excuse.

They also won 3 Stanley cups and rebuilt their team lighting fast.

Look at us flailing around like losers. Its funny how you point that out. Now do Buffalo.

You trying to win an argument by pointing out something negative about NJD when they are one of the best teams in the league now and we are one of the worst.

On the ice, I like the idea of replacing VO with PKane IF the hip is back to where it was 2 or 3 years ago.

Off the ice is the wild card. Cutting ties with the negative influences locally is way easier when you are playing in Chicago.

I'm not the one making absolute statements for things that involve nuance.

If you think there are people out there that can do better than what Adams and Granato are doing and fix what the problems are, then it shouldn't be hard for you to come up with answers to fixing what's wrong.

Asking who we are we replacing them with, isn't an excuse to not firing someone, asking who are we replacing them with is a sign of a team that is looking for a plan to fix the holes on the team/in the organization. Just firing them without a plan at the stage where the organization, is how you set yourself up of going through people at an alarming clip.

It's funny how a team that has made the playoffs in 2 out of the past 11 seasons is framed as somehow having rebuilt their team lightning fast.

The Sabres are flailing around because they have had 4 different GMs over the course of the last 12 seasons. The owners that have made those 3 hires are still here and making the decisions.

Churning through GMs generally extends rebuilds rather than having them work out quickly. Even the Yzerplan is not going as quickly as Wings fans had hoped.
