Peter has too much food to ever eat it all and Paul starved to death last year.
Mostly agree, although I like Clifton and think he could be the answer, even though he is not a legit and experienced top 4 D.My offseason list for the Sabres were:
1. Add another Top 4 Dman.
2. Add a legit NHL goaltender to handle starting duties for at least 2 years.
3. Add a bottom 6 possession center.
4. Revamp the bottom half of the lineup (forwards and defense) to improve defensive play and PK.
Results so far?
1. Nothing.
2. Nothing.
3. Nothing.
4. Cliffton was a solid 3rd pair signing that helps the PK. Johnson was a solid 5-7 vet signing.
So......still alot of work to do still. By the way, its mostly still the same work that didn't get done last offseason.
We have Krebs Mitts and Jost. Savoie and Kulich are Centers. How many more do you want?My offseason list for the Sabres were:

Even if both of those are true, still leaves 3 centers for two positions and players pushing. I don't see why you want or expected a move at center.I certainly don't see Kulich playing center in the NHL. He was playing center in Rochester basically due to desperation more than anything else.
Savoie is 50/50.....but if he plays in the NHL this year, I can't see him playing center.
Who is our 3C and 4C? Jost with 38% FO? Krebs is probably one of them, if he is not sent to the wing in the top 9.Even if both of those are true, still leaves 3 centers for two positions and players pushing. I don't see why you want or expected a move at center.

Add goalie is required, adding forward would also be a plus. I doubt the third line, especially if VO remains. It is not clear who will be 4C.

Mitts Jost Krebs. Maybe if you wanted to sign a 4C I could get behind that.Who is our 3C and 4C? Jost with 38% FO? Krebs is probably one of them, if he is not sent to the wing in the top 9.
Jost doesn't look like a good center to me at this stage. I expect Mitts to play in the top 6 in center or on the wing. Krebs remains in the role of 3C or 4C. So I think we need another center, maybe a guy who is good at faceoff and decent on defense and PK.Mitts Jost Krebs. Maybe if you wanted to sign a 4C I could get behind that.
None of those are lock down possession centers that can win faceoffs, dominate possession, flip the ice, play defense, and play on PK1. Having a bunch of guys on the roster with a C/W designation doesn't mean you have what you need.We have Krebs Mitts and Jost. Savoie and Kulich are Centers. How many more do you want?

Gets even harder when you resign Jost, don't trade Olofsson, are unwilling to trade any assets,.......and haven't even acknowledged there is a need. What you're describing isn't exactly easy to find................

Aren't we still in the offseason, or have I woken up and it's October?Gets even harder when you resign Jost, don't trade Olofsson, are unwilling to trade any assets,.......and haven't even acknowledged there is a need.
Well we don't know if he looked or not. They aren't easy to find.
They are impossible to find when you don't even look.
Sure, but there is alot of work to do, especially given the draft trading period and initial UFA push are in the rearview, and this management staff has not shown the ability to fill these holes in the past through trades.Aren't we still in the offseason, or have I woken up and it's October?
I'm not concerned about Clifton, he was a great third pairing pickup that can play the PK. One of the needs we had filled with a good appropriate player. Now for a top 4 dman, starting Goalie, and bottom six possession center. To those who lament Clifton wasn’t a top-4 d-man...
MacAvoy Lindholm and Carlo are a better combined threesome at this point in their careers than Power Dahlin Samuelsson. I’m not concerned about Clifton on BUF.

Toews is out there, if only we could shave about six years off the manWhat you're describing isn't exactly easy to find................
It was only in the playoffs, maybe he did not have a game, a small sample. But in the regular season, he played almost as much as Carlo.Orlov pushed Clifton out of the top 4.
Grzelcyk and Forbort pushed him out of the top 6.
I'm glad we signed Clifton, he's a surefire upgrade to our bottom pairing, but he's a pretty big question mark to be a true top 4.
Clifton and Grzelcyk were rotating in and out of the lineup during the playoffs. Clifton played games 1, 2 and 6.Orlov pushed Clifton out of the top 4.

If only it were marijuana farms going up in a blaze at the rate the forests were/are. We'd all be much happier, or we'd forget what thread we were posting in. It'd be a much better vibe regardless! So much negativity here from the usual suspects.
I'm gonna blame it on the weather.
And the smoke coming from Canada. lol
