This man doesn't miss in the first round:

Quinn
Power
Rosen
Savoie
Ostlund
Kulich
Benson

That's going to pay huge dividends sooner rather than later. Adams smashed this mini rebuild out of the park with those picks.

Now, the hope is he can put the final touches on this team to build a true contender. First things first, get a top-4 defenseman!

tbh we really can't speak on anyone other than OP and JQ. who knows if any of our other prospects will succeed in the NHL. it is way too soon to say

btw you're forgetting JJ on that list–kind of a pseudo first round pick

A bit too early on this list no?

I certainly understand that D have a higher bust rate than F, especially at the top of the draft. But having a 6:1 ratio of F to D seems a bit inadvisable.

Adams has done a great job and drafting and getting good returns in selling players...

Next thing is he needs to show us that he can be buyer this off season.

Possibly, but at the same time they aren't looking for top tier D. So having a good forward group to trade from I think is easier, teams are looking for what, a decent prospect and pick? So that's a solid hand to trade from to get better players back rather than say a 6/7/8 defender. That surplus should get a well rounded #4.

Adams: with that 1st round pick made its time to swing that Pesce deal and bring in Helly... *Quinn injury news*... and its a development year

So with the 2nd round over, Adams has had 6 1sts and six 2nd round picks in the last 3 years. He’s converted one of them to immediate help despite plenty of pressing needs.

We have more forwards that we can reasonably develop.

Draft picks are currency. Spending them nearly all on prospects is foolish.

Personally, I didn't like the Rosen, Savoie, or Benson picks. It doesn't look as solid to me as it does to you.

And if you want that top-4 dman you speak of? You better be ready to part with some of that list.

I have generally liked what KA has done overall. The franchise is certainly in a better spot now than 3 years ago. That said, he has gone years without addressing some major holes in the lineup, and did not last deadline, nor this draft period.

I have not liked his offseason so far. Is there still time to turn it around? Sure, but the visible action so far has been underwelming

The off-season basically began earlier this week and goes for the next two months. So, yes, there's time to turn it around.

He's laid down a great foundation, but at some point you have to start building the effing house. We are going to need a roof on this thing soon. No more development years. We need to make the playoffs in 23-24. Anything less would be a complete disappointment.

What don't you like about Savoie and who would you have drafted instead?

I didn't like the Savoie pick but he's certainly proved me wrong in his D+1 year. I won't pretend like all of Adams' picks are money in the bank already, because we are a longggg way out. But at face value, for now, they look to be very nice.

Levi is the roof, currently under construction. Dahlin Power and Power are the foundation. TT Cozens Tuch Skinner are the bones. We just need some furniture(4-6D) and decor (bottom 6 F)

Quite a few don't like the Savoie pick but no one really gives any reason. Prefer someone else or size? He is the classic Massive upside skill player.

There is definitely more work to be done this offseason.

I’ve been pretty surprised how little action there has been this draft. Not talking specifically about Adams but overall.

I said didn't when it happened, not that I still don't. And i felt he is too small to project as a top end center in the NHL. I've heard the Point comparisons, but Point is often the exception not the rule.

I already penciled him in as a winger.

Totally agree, which I stated in my post, but the trend so far is holding. We have been short on defense and goaltending for years. We went thru last summer without addressing it. We went thru the season and trade deadline without addressing it. We have passed the first trading period and draft without addressing it. Some other teams are making moves to move their team forward, we continue to stay pat. My point is that we are not on a trajectory to fixing those issues, and the pattern is still holding.
