Best possible pick at 7th, going to be an all around minute muncher by the time he hits 22.

Guys that size, that smart, that can skate like he can, are extremely, extremely hard to find.

Wouldn't listen to anyone saying it was a reach or a huge project pick

I’m really conflicted about what to do with Korchinski next year. He is so young and so underdeveloped physically and so so so good.

On one hand you’d love for him to have a year to just get huge. He reminds me so much of Jay Bouwmeester. An ectomorph who will really have to work hard to add weight. This would be the perfect player to send back to college for a second year but that’s not his situation.

But he will probably stagnate in junior. I think I’d play him lightly in the NHL until December and get him in the weight room lifting heavy with Goodman, send him to the WJC to be a 1D, and play him heavy in January and reassess his progress and likely skip the Worlds to lift big going in to 24-25.

His development is the most important prospect development and will determine the hawks ceiling in the Bedard era. It is so so important.

You see what he does in the preseason. If he forces his way on, then he plays in the NHL. If not, he will end up being fine. Perhaps they can have him in the NHL the first couple of months, and then send him to the WJC before going back to Seattle. I believe Guenther and Wright did that this year.

yes, like the front office always says, he will decide what we do with him. I’m just making assumptions here that he will be one of the best 4 or 5 Hawks D in the preseason. You could argue he was close last year.

With his season going so long this year you can’t expect him to get a lot of good work in this summer. He’s played entirely too much hockey. That’s why I think you give him his 9 games next year but maybe 9 of the first 20 or something like that (I don’t know if that’s how it works?) so he can lift and get acclimated. I’d ideally like to see him in the NHL bombing around playing wild, making a bunch of big mistakes but being dangerous. Then off to WJC.

That’s the element you risk losing when you don’t season these guys in junior or the AHL for a long time. I don’t want him trying to play like Connor Murphy just to fit in.

He's going back to the WHL.

Still has a lot to work on. He's not going to stagnate there when he isn't even the best defenseman in the league.

Never a bad thing to give kid 9 games if they look capable of handling it

Worst case you send him down and he got some NHL experience and some decent pay for 9 games

Absolutely no reason to play him in the NHL next season. Kid will be barely 19 when WHL season starts. Let him pack on 20 pounds of muscle and dominate the junior level, do the WJC thing and get serious about having him playing grown men the following season.

He will start the year as a Blackhawk…his play will dictate whether he stays or gets sent back to junior, it’s so stupid that he can’t play in AHL because he’s drafted out of CHL…ideally a full season in Rockford(or half a season) but rules are rules

Still really young and isn't as dominant as an NHL ready prospect is. I know he had a great number of points this season, but he was used as 3rd pairing defenseman in the important WJC Canada games. On top of that, he is still really young for his draft class.

I think it is more important for him to play pre-season games and let the more NHL ready prospects in our system get the 9 games like Nolan Allan, Kaiser, Phillips, and Regula. Maybe even Del Maestro too.

He needs anitger seadon to develop both his framecand his defensive game into more physicality...He needsxto develop his shot and to becone a leader and "tge guy" at tge back -end...Tge skilk is tgere but hecstill has a ways to go in the all round game and dominate more at tge junior level...Je needs another year
..You cannot play hom I the AHL (too young) ...so it is either back to Seattle in the WHL (though they may trade him as they will lose several of their older players and so decide to re-build )...

Maybe Hawks can loan hom to a Swiss or Swedish pro team to develop there against men? Not sure if that is allowed...but in any case I do not think he looks ready for thoe Show vs.NHL vet pros..

We should definitely risk it again. It’s good and smart to do.
Good call, let's wrap them all in bubble wrap and seal them in a plexi-glass case until they're NHL ready.

Spoiler Alert:
players get better by playing, shocking I know.

Do you think WJC is more dangerous than other hockey games? Seriously wtf are you even talking about?

He skates, passes and thinks the game well enough to be a high end d-man at the NHL level right now. What he doesn't do well enough yet is win physical battles and shoot the puck. Those two areas can be worked on in the WHL. The Hawks don't need him next season - they need him to get better and be better prepared for the following season.

If he comes in and plays so well they can't send him back to the WHL - fine and wouldn't that be great - but odds are he will spend most or all of next season in the WHL and be a better player in the long run because of it.

He’s a nhl level defenseman, he doesn’t need to be playing against children.

Oh really? Because WJC just ended 4 months ago and he got outplayed by most of those "children" he did not stand out in any way.

Not saying he won't eventually be an elite NHL defenseman but he sure is hell isnt there right now and more playing time in high-stakes atmosphere can only help further his development.
