From everything I've heard it sounds like Fiala is gonna be traded. Maybe things can change.
Yes, our GM appears set on it, which is what we fear.

My understanding of hard-on is different than yours. You've had a hard-on for Fiala since last summer
with around just $8.2 million in cap space and having only 17 contracts for next sason. Fiala is a RFA with arbitration rights and a year from UFA. If you are budgeting around $7 million for Fiala, that leaves them $1.2 million for the other 5 roster spots. So, to keep him, they need to free up $3 million (Net or replacing a roster spot) in cap space at a minimum to fit Fiala and get the rest of the roster filled out. (but one of those roster spots is a backup goalie to Talbot and how cheap can Minny go with that?)I worry for people who don't have a "hard-on" for fiala, at this point I am willing to break up the GREEF line to keep him. Maybe keep Ek and trade away Greenway and even Foligno and whoever else needs to go to make room.
I would say no, not currently. NYI 1st isn’t high enough. For a two asset trade Fiala easily commands a top 10 pick, and Wahlstrom doesn’t make up the difference.Does Wahlstrom and NYI 1st land Fiala?
And what would the contract be?
I wouldn’t be a fan but probably. Not a huge Wahlstrom guy though. Just based on the history of these types of moves I think it probably gets it done thoughDoes Wahlstrom and NYI 1st land Fiala?
And what would the contract be?
I would hope not, personally. A pick in the low teens and a prospect I don't see much in. Just guessing on the contract- 7/53M?Does Wahlstrom and NYI 1st land Fiala?
And what would the contract be?
All sorts of things. A low 2022 draft pick, Mercer, Holtz. Can't take back big salary, obviously. Biggest needs are high end RHD (Nemec?), C's, then RHS wings. Don't need depth players. What , if anything , do the Devils have that would interest the Wild for Fiala?
It's not what Wild fans would want, but it'd probably be a competitive offer.Does Wahlstrom and NYI 1st land Fiala?

Russo just said on his Athletic live stream that unless things have dramatically changed this season, everything he was hearing points them having already made the decision to trade Fiala this offseason
What do you consider little?Ottawa's 1st round if they slide out of the top 5 + a little something on top. Let's do it!
What do you consider little?
I think you need to look at his production and what other first line wingers have gotten recently. He’s been utterly dominant, there is no way he settles for less than 8Well I don’t think he deserves 8M+. So if that’s what he wants, he’s going to have to get it elsewhere.
But that’s also severely going to shrink the trade market for him, because I don’t see a lot of teams wanting him at > 8M on a long term deal. I think he’s more of a 7M—7.25M guy.
I’m not sure I’d do that, and I don’t think the Wild would.I dunno...the equivalent of a 3rd?
Yikes, a top 10 pick and a 3rd rounder isn't enough? Fair enough, I thought it would be.I’m not sure I’d do that, and I don’t think the Wild would.
3rd rounder would be used to move from 8th to 7th, not much value as an added piece for a star 25 year old.Yikes, a top 10 pick and a 3rd rounder isn't enough? Fair enough, I thought it would be.
Sure, I think I'd prefer Boucher or JBD, but that's fine. I thought a 7/8 would be ok with a 3rd, but if I'm off, I'm off, let's consummate this deal!3rd rounder would be used to move from 8th to 7th, not much value as an added piece for a star 25 year old.
I’d gladly offer 7th/8th + one of our 2nd tier prospects in Thomson/JBD/Boucher, though I’m sure the Sens would value them more than I.
The Wild should just keep him. The guy has constantly come through when they've needed him to. I highly doubt they could acquire a better forward trading him. Trading away what has been a position of weakness for the Wild for so long (a ppg forward) for anything less than an upgrade would be a shame.
Was reading somewhere Guerin appeared on radio and said wild can keep both fiala and dumba? Is it possible he already knows dumba is taking a discount? Is it true he appeared on radio?Yes. Yes we should.

The dude is point-per-game, has 21 points in last 10 games, is young and still improving.Yikes, a top 10 pick and a 3rd rounder isn't enough? Fair enough, I thought it would be.
