Kerfoot is killing me...

He also had the series on his stick several times in the last two game 6s but couldn't score. He is not THE problem, but he is certainly part of the overall scoring issue in the playoffs. Dude has zero finish.
We have scoring issues with much more expensive players then him... Those guys some how get a relatively free pass. They are who we should be most worried about.

I don't view him as that bad.

Won't miss him when he is gone but I wish more Leafs would play with his fearlessness. He sure takes a beating night in, night out
This sums things up quite nicely I think.

I hope we move Kerfoot by the TDL and get something useful for him along with the cap space.

He’s nothing special, but is fast, has a good motor, decent puck skills and is decent defensively. Don’t know how people could call him soft - he’s not a big hitter, but he sacrifices the body to make plays constantly, and is always going hard to the danger areas. He’s a perfectly serviceable middle 6er, and he generally plays well in the playoffs.

I probably wouldn’t re-sign him, unless it was really cheap (Jarnkrok style, 3-4 years at $2-2.5 mil), as we’re always so tight for cap space, and Dubas is great at finding steals. He’ll probably get more like $3-4 mil on the open market, which is a no from me. However, happy to have him as middle 6 depth for the playoffs. If we trade him as part of a deal for an upgrade, cool, but I wouldn’t trade him just to dump him, he’s a positive asset who makes our team a bit better.

Of course, but you feel somewhat confident in them making a difference. I don't think there's much confidence in Kerfoot providing offense. If there's an upgrade available, you make it happen

Should have traded him last summer when his value was high.
Now we are stuck with him unless another team willing to take him in order to offset the salary.
He will be a good fit for the Nucks. One for one deal for Garland with retention.

He doesn't score.
He does not play PP
He is not a good PK,
He has time on top 2 lines and failed
He is over paid
He is not tough or strong
He is not super fast
He is not a great shot blocker
He fills space a young Marlie like Steeves could be playing

Naz could only hear half of what you said with a stanley cup ring plugging up one of his ears.

This is such a silly quote. He didn't do much in the playoffs. Roy has a reason to say something like this.

Delusion if you truly believe Steeves > Kerfoot.

Strange... he's our #3 PK minute guy... with very respectable results.
Over paid?? Doesn't score?? Using Capfriendly's contract comparables... RFA 3/4 year contract, more than 120 games, he ranks FIRST in PPG for the top 10 most similar contracts, over the course of that contract. He actually provides very respectable results for what we pay him, compared to others with similar contracts.
He's actually pretty fast... not super fast.
He's 4th in the team for shot blocking, while clocking the 7th most minutes for forward.

Steeves most certainly could not take his minutes... it's actually laughable that you even use Steeves, a guy struggling 5v5 at the AHL level....

Really bad take, thrown out without any real evidence or thoughts... just a bad narrative.

I mean, I'm absolutely fine with moving on from him this year, and bringing in people who bring a different set of tools, but he's been decent for what we pay him. They aren't all superstars.

I think they intended to trade him but the market wasn’t very strong. Similar players were dealt for a very mediocre return, and without a clear cut upgrade Dubas probably felt the roster depth is more important.

And for the record, I don't think Kerfoot is really a big concern. He is what he is: a functional utility man that plugs some holes and has decent speed. He just has no finish and will take stupid penalties from time to time. It's on coaching to use him properly. And by that I mean he should never be on the ice again when up a goal and 10 minutes from eliminating the current champs while already down a man. Ever. Ever, ever.

How is Kerfoot soft? That’s one of the last things Kerfoot is.
Are you being serious? When have you ever seen him win a puck battle ? Or get into a scrum ? Or show any type of emotion ? Stealing Burkes line, Kerfoot can’t spell the word Intense. If you’re gonna play bottom six you have to get MAD every now and then and this guy isn’t it. You lose in playoff series with soft guys like this.

If the market shows the interest wasn’t strong, it means the rest of the league rate Kerfoot lower than the Leafs.
Still should have traded Kerfoot for a solid package and use the 3.5mil and see who can you sign

He has his flaws no doubt but on a team full of soft players he wouldn't be considered one.
