Friedman talked about Utah wanting to get size AND Maccelli being the odd man out, so you must have just listened to it. If not, then good call on the proposed deal.

As for value I'm not sure how the Bruins value Coyle, but a 2nd and a small plus for Frederic seems to be the asking price.

I proposed this in the Boston sub-forum yesterday. But I’m definitely about to listen to it now. Haha.

That does not seem to help Boston very much. Mathias Maccelli will not be receiving the 15-16 ATOI he had in Arizona with the point production.

Undersized, non goal scorer. Not much of a need.

Possibly fair value but I would hope the Bruins look in a different direction.

To BOS:
Mathias Maccelli
‘26 NYR 2nd
‘26 CAR 3rd

To UTA:
Trent Frederic (UFA)
Charlie Coyle
Bruins pass, Maccelli, doesn't move the needle, draft picks are nice, but will be pretty far down the line .

My thought was after the Bruins do some selling, he’d likely play in the top six. He’s 24, cheap, and is a career 50pts/82gp despite having a down season. That’s better than either Coyle or Frederic. Of course, he doesn’t bring the physicality or two way play that those two sometimes do. But they’re both having down seasons, too.

Perhaps the deal is more appealing if Utah replaces the NYR ‘26 2nd with their own ‘25 2nd?

Also happy to add Carcone if you’d like to give him an audition. Small and streaky, but a hard nosed player who brings physicality and grit despite his stature, and did have 20 goals in a crazy season last season. He’s unlikely to repeat that, but he does have a good shot and a nose for the net.

I don’t think he has trade value per se but if the Bruins like him as cheap depth it’s a toss in.

The kid could have had the Calder 2 yrs ago . Talent level is there and Bs need that. Has had one horrible season and two great one where he was not even used in the top 6 for the most part . You put the picks on top of that and Boston should be all over this kind of low cost high potential reward deal

This was my thought process for Boston.

For Utah, it’s seems a change of scenery is in order and they need some depth down the middle and some size up front. They also have a big surplus of draft picks.
