Confirmed with Link: Keith Yandle Signs One Year Deal With Flyers ($900K W/ NTC)

This is a perfectly fine signing. People need to relax.
But like....it's not because this is the umpteenth time I have to see some f***ing retread N/AHL tweener signing clog up the depth chart with another VETERAN to tempt our dumbass coach with, be that AV or Krakstol. Yandle is fine. Yandle on the flyers in this situation is not fine. They never f***ing learn. It's exhausting

It all depends on usage. If he sits as the #7, then it's actually an ideal spot because York is playing, and if one of the lefties gets hurt, he can come in and provide mobility opposite Braun or Ristolainen. I do get everyone's apprehension about whether they'd actually do that though.

I'm fine with that, but I have reservations that is what is going to happen.

It's funny that only 3 defensemen of the pre-Fletcher era are left and one of them is Sam Morin. Everyone thought he had no future on this team and in the end he survived Ghost, Myers, and Hagg.

Exactly what was said in the summer of 2016 when Manning was re-signed.

"depth is not a bad thing"

Manning then shit all over the ice for 65 f***ing games in both 16-17 and 17-18.

Keith Yandle isn’t Brandon Manning though. It’s not the same situation.

While other teams play and develop youth, we get to watch old vets get worse. Cool, cool.

They gave him an NTC because he gave them a big discount to play with his boys.

Um

What.

Here in the off-season, we have a spending limit. York, if I remember correctly, is not presently counting towards that limit. There is no cancellation. We just have 900k less room for a goalie now.

I'm no cap whiz, but I will say that Charlie did just talk about how it will only have a $20k difference on the cap. Maybe, like you said, it does matter at this exact juncture due to offseason spending limits where you're voluntarily going over the cap, but in the grand scheme of things, it will have a negligible effect on the cap.

Whether we agree with the move or not, they have guys who are devoted strictly to maneuvering the cap. If this was going to be an issue, they would have just had a handshake deal that they wouldn't ink until after a goalie comes in or any other minor moves are made. There's no chance that this truly will have any effect on their ability to bring in a backup goalie.

But maybe I'm an idiot for having any faith that they wouldn't mess that up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
