In a total, black, empty, bleeding vacuum. Yandle for 1 year at 900k would be a shrug at best, and also a shrug at worst.

Unfortunately this isn't a vacuum. It's an oppressive, humid, lard-chocked bottle spewing forth its load at near Mach. I can't get behind burning 900k of limited space (with more needs that need needed space) on a depth signing we don't need right after we signed Morin and with York and Zamula banging on the door. This is the Flyers, and our development model insists that Yandle must play over them. Its a pointless waste of cap space (always a bad GM trait) that stalls youth development. What a society.

Edit: and I cannot get behind devoting a roster slot to a special teams specialist. That's inefficient as hell.

He looked utterly shot last year. In what world, at age 35, would any sane GM expect him to be better?

It’s so damn frustrating.

Are they building playoff team? Yeah, probably. Are they building one with even a prayer of getting past the 2nd round? Not likely, and it’s another year in which future key players will get less NHL experience than they should.

He's as likely to help put the team over the top as Coffey was.

I am so, so sorry. I am totally neutral to you guys, you don't deserve this. Worst part is he's complete dogshit and has to play everyday. Condolences.

its ok, we are the offical home for old dogs..

we are used to it by now..

got anymore old players that need put out to pasture ? we can free up a few more roster slots those pesky young kids are trying to use...

This is an example of building team to keep ones job. If they miss the playoffs, Fletcher is likely gone so he’s gonna do whatever it takes to make the dance rather than whatever it takes to build a Cup contender.

It’s the same short sighted philosophy that ran the team into the ground under Bob Clarke in 89-90.

one things for sure, when this season blows up in Fletchs face his replacement will have no choice but to scorched earth this Org. top to bottom..

Fletch has left nothing the new guy can use to fix this team... it will be a 100% complete rebuild roster and office...

Because we just experienced the last 9 years of Flyers hockey where trash veterans consistently play over prospects. This is just more of the same. We used a 1st round pick on York instead of Caufield in 2019, and despite progression in his game, we're afraid to play him still in 2021, going on 2022.

so much THISSSSSS ^^^^^^^^^^^^ jesus christ why do people not put 2 and 2 together..

this Org. sucks at developing new players, it only wants to run it back with old tired dogs...

I do not mind this signing as he can help prepare york and zamula to be pros. not be ok players then regress as almost the entire team did last season. If its a season in the ahl to make them better than so be it. The team's D is better today than it was 3 weeks ago.

Now on the other hand if we run the same stupid ass flip passing system we did last year, then Hart is in big trouble. Stats aside. Hard to stop people standing in front unchallenged from getting good looks at goals.
