This is a no brainer.... if he stinks, he retires.....if he is decent and York or Zamula aren't ready then he plays... Worse case he's up for 15-20 games doesn't play well and plays 10-14 minutes a night giving a couple more months of seasoning for York and Zamula (plus for you haters if he sucks and the team struggles one step closer to AV and Fletch getting fired).. No way anyone could watch those limited games York played for the Phantoms and say he's ready and couldn't use more seasoning (I watched those games!)....f***** nonsense. Zamula has a better argument tbh.... If either blow the team away in camp then Yandle becomes our #7 if he still looks good and Sam gets placed on waivers or Yandle retires and Sam stays as #7D.... People are overreacting especially at $900k.

Lol, you said something interesting, people seems to really hate AV and Chuck, so those move, if judge as bad, should bring joy to them. Closer to the door.

In all seriousness, imo Chuck did his job this off-season, now let's see if AV can use them properly and win. This will be a perfect season to judge them both.

It’s $900k. He’s getting paid barely above league minimum. No, I’m not his biggest fan, but he’s still way better than another 900k player. He wanted to play here.
They probably just want someone who can be a weapon on the PP and doesn't cost too much. He also adds experience which never hurts.

Nobody should expect him to be an all situation, minute eating defenseman. He'll be a more experienced, much cheaper Ghost.

When does Hayes have his keys to the city ceremony? Is it televised?

Not sure if it's televised, but I hear it also includes a statue dedication...which I'm sure he will personally "christen" with lifted leg.

Moneyball is a great movie. A true masterpiece. Impeccably written & directed. I think the spreadsheet approach is much more suited to baseball, but notice the importance of dynamics when Pitt snaps & gets rid of Jeremy Giambi despite the numbers.

My thoughts exactly. They gave him 900K. If it fails miserably he just sits in the press box. No risk some reward signing since he should be able to help the PP.

He’s cheap-as-they-come veteran depth for one year. Will help the locker room, too, which obviously was a problem. Re-energizing a languishing roster might be Chuck’s shrewdest maneuver.

I don't rally blame Fletcher for signing Yandle as a possible stop gap if needed but I am worried about AV's proper usage . Gus was a flop and ended in the press box which I give AV credit for and it gives me hope that York will get a chance . Morin must be thinking WTF

Let the record show I do not hate the idea of signing Yandle the player. Good job, Chuck.

What I do hate is the idea that this guy is likely to block someone like York or Zamula as we've seen in the past with other prospects and completely useless players. A year from now we'll be told by people that none of this mattered and if they were good they would have made the team regardless of who was in their way. Bad job, Chuck.

i often wonder why this Org. even bothers to draft young players... whats the point..

just sign all the old dinosaurs your allowed to... oh wait, that is what they do..

nm carry on...
