So this team's plan is to make the best second round pick in NHL history?

Genius. Just pick better. Why didn't Charles Entertainment Fletcher think of that.

(I don't follow the NFL, I don't know how accurate what Jones said was)
Hurts is the Ristolainen of the NFL and that's what Jones wants to copy. We're f***ed.

Meanwhile, no 2nd round pick in 2023. Last pick of the 2nd round in 2024 as compensation for JOB.

Oh and because of how many different positions there are in football, its impossible to compare the NFL Draft to NHL Draft.

Also they havent changed out any of the scouts responsible for almost never hitting on any picks after the 1st round.

Holy f***ing shit

What in the f***.....

Is this code for: we're still too proud to full scale rebuild? "We don't draft in the 2nd round, but by golly, we'll find our Hart trophy winner there!"

Every time he opens his mouth, another year will be tacked onto the playoff drought.

#51 for JOB (#19 one round later).
They haven't changed any of the scouts b/c you can't do so until after the draft (who you gonna hire? everyone is under contract).
They have drafted after the first round the last five years:
2018: Ginning #50, Ersson #143
2019: Brink #34, Attard #72,
2020: Andrae #54, Desnoyers #135
2021: Kolosov #78, Zanetti #110, Samson #174, Avon UDFA
2022: Kaplan #69, Gendron #220

The new STG is totally buying into the propaganda.

-ASF made out the grandiose press conference (being on the floor of the Wells Fargo Center with the scoreboard dropped down) as an attempt to "connect with the city" because the Flyers have become so irrelevant. He says they could never do something like that under the previous regime because Fletcher was "disconnected from the city" and cited how he got booed by the season ticket holders. (None of this adds up. Fletcher got booed because he was a bad GM + No fan cares about the location of a press conference)

- Briere and Jonesy have both told ASF that more front office changes are coming in the next few months

-ASF think Olczyk really thought he was going to get the job.

.-Camillo emphasized "collaboration" across the organization. It is so obvious that they were scarred by the Provorov Pride jersey stuff.

-Camillo also said they'd "have their shit together" and that Danny is "smart as hell," which I can't help but roll my eyes at. Russ was drooling last podcast over how the New Era of Orange press release said "work your ass off." The "Look how serious and blue collar we are, we are using curse words!" thing is so cringy.

-ASF talked down Tulsky because he has no experience as a GM and implied that the hype for Tulsky is only because he used to be a Flyers writer

A lot of the same platitudes that we heard when Hextall came in like being patient, play the kids, not going to do things the typical aggressive Flyers way, etc. Not that they're wrong, but I can't get overly excited when this "new perspective" isn't even new. I get that Jones and Camillo did them a favor with these interviews, but there was almost zero push back and skepticism both during the interviews and during the regular podcast.

Did those idiots writing off Tulsky because of lack of GM experience comment on Briere's lack of experience?

The front office changes is a new thing, Fletcher hired additional people, but never really moved out any old timers.
I don't remember Hextall shaking things up.

Hextall started strong, amassed a bunch of picks, then kinda flatlined. Don't know if his heart was really in a rebuild, Schenn was the only major trade after Kimmo/Coburn and that may have been more about frustration with Schenn.
But from that 2014-15 team he kept Simmonds (26), Raffl (26), Read (28), Streit (37), PEB (29), Umberger (32), Schultz (32), AMac (28) and added Medvedev (33), VdV (28), White (27) the next season. Not exactly a commitment to a rebuild.

I think it's fair to question whether Tulsky can transition to GM. But that's different than thinking the hype doesn't have any validity.

I think it's obvious there's been a sea change, the Advisors have disappeared.
It's also fair to be skeptical whether these changes will bear fruit.
But I think the commitment to a real rebuild is sincere, the question is more about whether they can successfully execute one.

Do you hear that drip drip noise? That’s my brain turning into a grey matter beverage.

Stupefying levels of propaganda for a GM and POHO with 14 months of front office experience combined. Which is being generous because one of them has zero experience. On a bottom 5 team with the recently fired GM yet.

This team is a dynasty at gaslighting its fans.

Tbf, i did take some good points from what i heard. The morale in that building supposedly being way better is objectively a good sign; i feel like it's probably safe to assume that Fletcher (aside from just being bad at his job) was probably checked out and didn't want to deal with this organization anymore, not that i could blame him.

The part from ASF about them claiming that they actually do have some awareness about needing to modernize the Flyers' game... that got my attention for sure. Whether or not they're actually capable of doing that obviously remains to be seen, as does clarification on what their vision of "modern hockey" is.

Not that i'm slurping the Comcast cock like some of the Authentics have been, but i also can't be anywhere near as outraged as some of you are right now. I need to see what phase one of this thing is actually gonna look like; what the Hayes and Provy trades are gonna look like, and who else gets moved out. I'm actually starting to think that what they do at 7 isn't as important as the players they trade and what they get in return. Because let's be honest here, they're probably gonna reach for a need/"culture fit" at 7 and i'm not saying i don't blame them, but there's clearly a drop-off after Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Smith/Michkov, and hell, only 4 of those 5 aren't massive risks. Whoever they take at 7 is whatever honestly, but can Briere actually win a f***ing trade though? I forgot what a Flyers GM winning a trade even looks like.

Speaking for myself, I would say I'm outraged as much as I am just rolling my eyes at the lazy lip service that is getting rolled out. I really am excited to see what Briere does about trades, modernizing the roster, changing the front office, etc. and I am willing to give Briere a fair shot at the job, but that excitement can be stated without buying into the seemingly bogus claims centered around a "new era of orange," being better communicators, Jonesy's "intel," etc.
