Is this f***ing real life? They’re talking about how upset alumni have been for years since Comcast took over. They’re concerned about THEM and saying how they’re going to take care of them because they’re great men.

Clarke and Company aren’t going anywhere based off of that.

“We want them to feel like they’re special.”

How can this possibly be the priority of a team with the league's 7th worst record over the past three seasons? Mind boggling stuff.

What's a "grinder." Is Gourde a grinder?
Gourde is 5'9" and averages 50 points per 82 games over seven seasons.

Now you're seeing why they need Jones to talk to the ST holders, if you're going to sell a rebuild to a bunch of short-attention span fans, you're gonna need the alumni (not the Advisors, mostly players from the last couple decades the fan remember and like) behind you.

Selling 3-5 years of deliberate pain is hard, rebuilding is going to mean years of bad hockey as they move to build a critical mass of young talent.

One reason Torts is a good choice is he'll have them play hard, disciplined hockey, they'll lose a lot but they won't get blown off the ice on a regular basis. This is similar to what Brown did for the Sixers, and if it hadn't been sabotaged by the FO from hell, could have resulted in a deep, young team. You know, like Boston. If you're gonna lose, a scrappy young team is a lot more likable than a bunch of figure skaters who play like headless chickens.

We didn't need to make the President of Hockey Ops be the one selling this stuff to ST holders.

Make Jones the "Executive VP of Hockey Communications" if his job is going to be Minister of Propaganda. Don't bastardize the President's role to be a glorified ST holder liaison.

Two birds with one stone. Creates the position they want, and removes a possible obstacle for top-down interference.

Oh, just you wait.
Nah it'll get better.

See, I am also not thrilled with our current state of affairs, but I'm also pretty confident it's going to not be exactly the same we've had the last 4 years.

What I'm saying is that on a scale from 1 (not hated at all)-10 (hated to the point of apathy), I think my score of the Flyers is going to go from a 10 to a 7 in the coming few years.

So an improvement, but still not great.

“It’s more than one year but less than four.”

Yeah, ok.
That's pretty reasonable, they already have #5 and #7, they'll probably get one more high pick next draft.
They have an extra 1st in 2024, get a 2nd back with JOB, Provorov should garner a decent haul, Laughton, Hayes not so much.
TK? Hart? Risto next summer?

Land a couple top 6 forwards and a 1RHD the next 3 years, build up organizational depth, and you may have a pretty good team by then.
If they're still struggling, they'll have players in their prime seasons they can package a couple years from now.
Avoid big name FAs, use cap room to sweeten deals, find some "hidden gems."
We'll see if Briere can pull it off.

2026-27 (4 years):
Couts (34)
TK (29)
Cates (27)
Tippett (27)
Frost (27)
Farabee (26)
Gauthier (23)
Foerster (25)
Brink (25)
Desnoyers (25)
Lycksell (26)
Allison (29)
Wisdom (24)

York (25)
Sanheim (30)
Attard (27)
Zamula (26)
Andrae (23)
Ginning (26)
Samson (23)

Hart (28)
Ersson (27)

Just a reminder…John Tortorella is the coach and will likely be placed in a management position soon.

What are the odds on the Flyers missing the playoffs for the rest of this decade?

20-21: 19th
21-22: 29th
22-23: 26th
23-24
24-25
25-26
26-27
27-28
28-29
29-30

They'll tryhard their way into being first round cannon fodder at some point along the way. I'm thinking 2026 or 2027. Then they'll jack themselves off over the massive improvements/finally getting back in, and blame injuries when they miss again for the next 3 seasons.
