No no...we hired a coach who somehow was rebuilding but the GM wasn't. There is no universe even in the MCU or DCU where that makes any sense

You forgot how also at the same time said coach doesnt want to have any executive input though. Actual friggin multiverse

Sure it does. Reports at the time was CF didn't want Torts, changed his tune only under pressure from the Advisors.

The Advisors thought Torts would crack the whip and make a miraculous turnaround.

Torts looked at this team after the first month and basically said y'all are a bunch of idiots, it's gonna take 5 years to turn this around (longer than my contract). Then he started benching veterans and playing kids.

Anything done by Fletcher-Briere is now old news. Do we know if DB would make that move on his own today? That 2021 draft all goes on Fletcher. He wrecked it with his stupid trades. Of course Flahr and his scouts recommended who was selected. That’s why I want to see a new scouting department at pro and amateur levels. Especially beefed up in Europe.

The trades happened because Flahr determined we could skip the draft.

Briere is who he is. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have the job. This team hires only one kind of mind.

He did the f***ing opposite of that. He had opportunities to play kids and refused them. The only kids he played were due to injury.

Says a lot that you an only defend the team by lying.

Posting this clip from Nasty Knuckles because I couldn't help but laugh at Lappy's total nonsense when defending Chuck Fletcher

In this particular clip, he talks about the Risto deal being good because you watch the playoffs right now and defensemen, like RADKO GUDAS, is out there killing people so Risto is a guy you want...But somehow Lappy f***ing neglects to acknowledge that FELCH is the one who TRADED RADKO GUDAS FROM THE FLYERS

I wanna fight Lappy right now. I'd lose, but he's earned a donnybrook from me for this nonsense.

IDK about this. Once Fletcher decided that he was going to get Ristolainen that first rounder was gone and the draft was sunk. We don’t know what Flahr would have gone with that first rounder since it was gone.
As for Briere, he had no relationship with Tortorella prior to his being hired as coach. It didn’t take long for Torts to realize that this club was not contending for anything but an early draft choice. Briere came to the same conclusion and the two began to form an alliance against the Scott-Fletcher view of things. They’ve been working in tandem ever since.

They said Tuomala was top 20 on their board.

Well, at least the President of Hockey Operations isn't that guy.

Small miracles.

Lappy is clueless. He has not done or said anything smart since he's worked for this organization

It doesn’t take much for him to support the team given what he’s said over the years on the podcast. He wouldn’t admit Fletcher sucked until they failed to sign Gaudreau.
Except not signing Gaudreau was one of Fletcher's best moves

I’m not backing Flahr in any way. His preoccupation with size and strength and how it matters more than skill and speed convinces me that his pick at seven will be Dvorsky just like last year Gauthier was a lock. Maybe these are the best choices. Only time will tell.

Yeah I’m not saying it wasn’t, although Fletcher was trying to compete so it made no sense when looking through that lens. Obviously in reality Gaudreau would have just replaced Giroux in putting lipstick on pig with this team going forward.

I’m just saying tho, ASF was defending Fletcher up until that point. He wouldn’t admit things were coming off the rails before that when most sensible people realized that. He’d argue with his co-host a lot who was saying even before then Fletcher was doing a bad job & needed to go.

The advisors thought that Torts would get control of the locker room and steady the ship, the use that to set up to make the playoffs next year. Not unlike what he did in Tampa and Columbus.

Torts said it was a rebuild from Day 1.

Yes, and he reiterated it plenty of times. It was Chucky who was saying the opposite...

February

Tortorella acknowledged the Flyers will be sellers. “Next year is going to be a grind, too,"

December

Where we’re at as a team, we are grassroots, as far as teaching,” Tortorella said. “We are just beginning to teach. Even when we get healthy and get some guys in, we’re just beginning.”

“This isn’t a one-year type of thing,” he continued. “We’ve got some work to do. And it’s gonna take some time, no matter what people want to hear out here. It’s going to take some time to get this right.”

Since we are posting what Torts said

With Ryan Ellis likely out to start the season, can you rely on DeAngelo as a top-pair defenseman at 5-on-5?

"Yes. I think he's going to be willing to try to understand our coverages. That's what I was so upset about, how some things were said this summer, and I don't think they were totally directed at Tony, but I'm thrilled with that acquisition because I think he can be a better player, too."

He got hired in June. You posted things said 6 months later after it was clear the team was shit again.

“I think Chuck and I spoke the same language in how we get this fixed quickly."

And then he admits later on that they had no idea he struggled so much defensively, meaning they acquired a guy without having a scouting report on him
