I'm now on my "summer of george" unemployment for more or less telling my management they didn't have a single clue what they were doing in regards to technology.

Collecting 830 a week (which isn't great) to go to the beach/work on my side hustle/etc isn't too bad though.

Honestly, that's the life. Way better than having money

If they're not willing to sell Tippett high then that's further proof his management group can only fail.
This is one of the only things here that i can't agree with. I don't think that's any sort of be-all-end-all.

If Hayes is part of a package to move up from 7 to 3, and if Provorov gets a return that's, let's say, something along the lines of the return Braydon Coburn got (a 1st, a 3rd, and a younger NHL-ready player), but Tippett ISN'T dealt this offseason, i don't know if i would consider that a failure.

I'll never for the life of me understand this idea that there is a market that wants things like they were in the 70's. I straight up don't think that's a thing.

Those people, like everyone else, want to watch a winner and be entertained. So happens the 70's teams were the only time they've ever seen a winner. So of course they hold them in high regard. Not because they are more interested in hits than goals.

Execs here continuing to cower at this perceived demand from fans is absurd. They won't cancel their tickets if you win. There is no arguing with winning.

Do you take their lip service seriously?

I mean if they brought in Brind'Amour tomorrow, first thing he'd talk about how he's proud to be back as an ex-Flyer and wants to return the team to its glory days. Then he'd do exactly what he wants to do.

They're not bring back the "Broad Street Bullies," heck, they're not bringing back the Holmgren teams of two decades ago.
Well, maybe in the sense that Briere was part of those teams, but he's not exactly what "Flyer fans" think of as a "Flyer player."

If you're in the group here that wants to tank and build a team like NJ, Toronto or Edmonton, you're SOL.
But if you're hoping for Carolina, Vegas, etc. that's closer to what you're probably going to get.

I wonder if they are even concerned that they are tied for 4th in the city(with the Union) with respect to the teams fans care about

This is the first I've ever seen, or heard, Hilferty. He's 67 years old, and has spent his entire life in the health insurance industry. Who the f*** thought it was a good idea to put him charge of a f***ing hockey team?

First they give us old ass, brain dead, Dave Scott. Now, this douche? Is this position just a retirement home for washed up, geriatric, corporate lifer's?

Again, he's f***ing 67 years old. He looks and speaks like f***ing Mike Pence. This dude has smarmy, corrupt, career politician vibes plastered all over him.

It isn't lip service. It never has been.

They are going to be the opposite of Carolina and Vegas. Tortorella already told us what they're gonna target: 10-12 goal PK specialists. He scoffed at the idea of bringing in more skill.

Dan Hilfirty is 100% that wealthy boomer casual hockey fan who hasn’t paid close attention since the 70s and still waxes poetically over Bob Clarke and sits in the luxury suites every once in a while with a client while yelling at the team to shoot the puck and fight more.
These guys love to pretend they are “passionate” Flyers fans but still think Simmonds is on the team.

It’s interesting to me that a couple members of the organization have now mentioned the whole “ex flyers alumni criticism”.

I honestly thought they were too insulated and out of touch to hear it but apparently they do.

I also find it interesting and disturbing that their reaction is to get defensive and downplay it and gaslight us into thinking we’re the ones who are overly dramatic.
