Top corporations tend to develop their executives from within, identifying candidates and grooming them for more responsibility. So this may seem eminently sensible from a Comcast perspective.
Which is fine in a vacuum for a competently run organization but this organization and Comcast’s handling of everything to do with this team is the exact opposite of competent.

They’re rotten to the core. Promoting anything from within is a mistake. You need to cut the cancer from the body.

Even top organizations have nepotism...but maybe not to the Flyers degree.

Out of the choices that were listed for President, Pronger was the only one that may have had the mojo to actually clean house and restructure the entire organization.
True. I heard Prongs on the radio here. He is launching some kind of new whiskey so I’m not sure he wants the pressure of rebuilding the Flyers out of Fletcher’s detritus.

Imma give them a chance..but with the caveat that they have a short leash. I need to see that the money is where the mouth is and that they do do a slow burn rebuild or if they continue the evil ways

Sad part is also..unless someone blows them out of the water asking price wise...like 5x what the team is worth...Comcast won't sell
sorry! but its #sameasiteverwas.

ill just save you a few months of hoping.

firing Fletcher is #rebuild complete

Depends on how they win a few more games.

Carried by Couts and Atkinson, or further development by Frost, Farabee and Cates and the emergence of Foerster, Zamula and Attard.

If Farabee gets healthy and has a breakout season (top 40 scorer pp/60 his first three seasons from 19-21) then that's one less top player you have to obtain through the draft.

The key is to keep adding young talent, the performance of the young talent will take care of itself, either it's good enough to make you a potential playoff team (then Gauither, #7 and what they pick up in trades is icing on the cake) or it's not, in which case you draft top 10 for another couple seasons.

The mistake is always to try and accelerate the rebuild with expensive FAs or trading for veterans.

Thanks for your reply, dead. In the grand overview I agree that a season where the top prospects excel is a plus, even if it costs a couple of draft slots. But we know that this isn't a binary situation: Couturier returning at >= 75% helps his value down the road, and not all prospects will advance, even fewer for a whole season. So I don't see the position of young talent being so definitive in its outcome.

We are way too early in the rebuild process to discuss cake icing or to be checking off positional needs. The Flyers will need to gather high-talent assets at every position for the next several years. Worst case is they have a glut of talent at one position and they can leverage it with a team that has.an organizational need at that position, like Nashville did with defensemen.

They hired an NBA version of Chuck Fletcher to lead their search in Billy King.

Chuck Fletcher out, Chuck Fletcher in. The team is putting us all in The Musher.

Most corporations in this country suck so I'm not surprised Comcast sucks as well.

God damn do I hate the corporate world and all it's fakery.

Fwiw ASF said Pronger did interview but ultimately wasn’t fond of power structure in place.

Sounds like Pronger might have made a decent PoHo. That sounds like some wacky power structure the Flyers have gotten right now.

Oh it's not appealing or right to hire your coach first, who is forced upon your gm who you hire next, who is forced upon your president that you hire last?

Backwards ass bullshit. These people are proof that being rich means nothing, just luck and kissing the right asses
The franchise is still rotting from the head. Hilferty is fawning over Torts’ Standard, whatever the F that is, the way Scott and Chuckles swooned over Vigneault’s ability to tell hockey war stories over martinis.

A bunch of losers never built a winning anything.

The main ones cheering this on are those close to looking for funeral plots. It’s the only explanation.

I hate turning against people personally, but f*** anyone that supports this shit. Ruining the team along with the bastards happy to keep milking Snider’s cash cow.
I'm kind of on the fence. He might surprise and do really well. There's not a lot of room for the team to get worse. I'm not quite at the level of "supports this shit" but f*** you too kid. Go to bed.
